2.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 unclemattie (3243) - Georgia, USA - JUL 4, 2009
24oz can. I’m not sure what I am in for. Pours hazy golden color, white fluffy head. Looks good so far. Aroma of a dried navel orange. It smells light and clean, as if it were opening up my airways. Some distant aromas of barley. Flavor of an all extract brew. Sweet wheat malt extract, generously watered down, a touch of fresh OJ (for presence), aged quickly in steel. Fill as many units as possible and pimp it out to whichever retailer will purchase it in bulk for a quick flip and profit. Overall, GENERIC. Finishes with a powered orange drink flavor and a light fizz on the palate.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Acetobacter (816) - Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 27, 2009
Experienced from a 12oz bottle in a pub glass. The beer pours a very hazy (even for a Witbier) medium to light gold, with a white head. Notes of orange come through, as do a bit of spice, but not tremendously clearly, and not to the extent that a Hoegaarden or Allagash White does. The palate is a bit thin, but not inappropriate. Notes of orange, a bit of wheaty smoothness, and just a touch of spice come through. As with the nose, the flavors do not match those represented in the best examples of the style. Overall, a great name, but a relatively pedestrian beer.
2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 GranvilleTim (955) - Granville, Illinois, USA - JUN 20, 2009
Honey yellow pour with nice white head that eventually went away. Oranges and coriandeer present, but very hard to distinguish. Little wheat aroma. Thin tasting beer. The aromas where just as hard to taste as they where to smell. It will quench your thirst, but it is not a thrilling beer to taste.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 noncaloric (684) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - MAY 11, 2009
Slightly hazy gold with a short lived heat. No head. Aroma of citrus, yeast, and something a little soapy. Heavy, nectarish palate, which oddly feels a bit flat, and doesn’t fit well with the otherwise would-be refreshing flavors. Moderately sweet honeyed malt base with orange, apricot, and yeast presences, just enough hop bitterness to balance the sweetness. Yeasty finish.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 esjaygee (2496) - Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA - APR 26, 2009
From a 12oz bottle. Cloudy witbier yellow a thin white head. Aroma of coriander, yeast and toasted malt. Taste of coriander, lemon and toasted malt. Flavors are a bit muted and they come wrapped up in an aggressively carbonated package. Finishes up a bit dry. Considering I expected nothing (and the ridiculously sophomoric name), this one was actually okay.
3.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 jbuzz (690) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - APR 21, 2009
The Horny Goat Web site calls this a Belgian Style Saison. I call it good. Very easy to drink. Some Corriander and a slit orange hint. A nice firm head.
2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 smooch (238) - Sylvania, Ohio, USA - APR 13, 2009
Wow...this is not good. Of course, living up to expectations it may because mine were pretty low. An advertisement mentions...cans...the bigger the better. If you’re using that slogan, you’re not exactly high brow. Overly carbonated...foul smelling. Give it a try if you like to taste the best and the worst.
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Drake (4803) - Charlottesville, Virginia, USA - MAR 30, 2009
16 ounce can from the Libation Station in Johnson City, TN. Pours a slightly hazy orange color with a large head. Fizzy with poor head retention and lacing. Aroma of bread, green apple, apricot and other fruits. Taste is bread, citrus, green apple. Thin bodied. Hardly any spice or yeasty notes that make a good wit but not offensive either.
