Pours an orange amber with a moderate white head. Nose is prominent at first but fades rather quickly. There’s some apricot and raisin, big on the dried fruit spectrum, almost fruit cake-ish. A very long bitter finish dominates with carbonation that borders on the fizzy. A very flavorful brew. It definitely earns points for having some different qualities.

[2693-20100113] 1pt6floz bottle. Sweet banana puree and apple-like grainy fruit aroma. Clear, amber orange body with a medium-lasting foamy off-white head. Medium body is rough. Nice solid brew, drinkable, repeatable.

A golden amber ale with a thin off white head. In aroma, butterscotch, and berry esters. In mouth, a grainey malt base with astringent rye german hops, medium bodied, a tad unpleasant. Tasted at J. Ryan’s Syracuse, Feb. 6 2010.

16 oz mug at J. Ryan’s (Syracuse). 06FE10.
App.: Clear copper with a small, off-white head.
Aroma: Quite fruity, mainly berries and some dark dried fruits, brown sugar, strawberries, some earthy/woodsy hops, butterscotch (boo!).
Palate: Medium body and medium-low carbonation.
Flav.: Lots of brown sugar, figs, raisins, strawberries, some esters, some pine/resin hops, rye bread crust, so fruity with butterscotch undertones; off-dry with forceful bitterness.
Well done...almost.

My bottle [660ml] shared with HogTownHarry, garthicus, jerc, mabel & GregClow. Pours a deep golden-amber with a small semi-lasting off-white head. Aroma has a hint of rye, some light hops, citrus fruit and bready notes -- I like it. Flavour of malt, rye bread and light floral hops. Average to medium bodied. Good stuff.

22oz - Clear gold with small bubbles and a thin tan head. Wood and cabbage nose. Mild creamy caramel on palate, rye spiciness arrived only after the glass warmed to nearly room temperature. Sort of a train wreck. I like Ryes, but this one missed.

2009-01-13. Orangey body with a nice creamy off-white head. Pleasant orange citrus in the aroma with some mild grainy malt. 7+ Flavour is similar, orange-tangerine citrus, pleasant modest bitterness throughout. Modest malt undercurrent. Average plus palate. 3+ Pleasant, quite quaffable. Bottle shared by Blankboy

Thanks to Blankboy. Appearance: Nice copper colour with a small white head. Aroma: A little spice and citrus rind, malt and a little rye. Flavour: Sharp rye, like a German rye bread, malt, some nice hoppiness in there too with a long bitter finish. Nice.
