22oz bottle: Pours to a light amber colored body with a small, frothy white head that lasts for a short while. The aroma is light cereal, sweet bread, a bit of spicy rye, and some mild grassy hops. Taste is a bit of spicy rye and bitter earthy hops up front with some lightly sweet pale malt towards the middle, and finishes with some mild spicy rye, sweet bread, and mild grassy hops. Light-medium bodied, medium carbonated. Tasty, but I like the rye beers that have a bit more rye and more sweet malt body to back them up (see Founders for example).

frylock (1084) - Buffalo, New York, USA - NOV 14, 2009
Amber colored beneath a dense white head. Aroma of toasty malts, rye, and fruity hops (apricot and pineapple). Firm bitterness followed by spicy rye and some light caramel malt notes. Finishes with flavors of grapefruit zest and piney hops. Not bad.

(bottle - 22 oz) Amber pour with a fizzy white head. Aroma is a nice mixture of caramel malts and spicy, floral hops. Some nice citrus and pepper makes its way through. Flavor begins with a smooth and sweet caramel flavor with a very nicely balanced and apparent peppery hop middle. Some apple sweetness comes through at the end with a very nice and dry rye finish. Crisp and rather chewy.

JahNoth (1039) - Rochester, New York, USA - SEP 19, 2009
Candy apple and fuggle-smelling hops in the nose. Brilliant light golden amber in color, very clear, with a thick and rocky head - some lacing. Very clean. Succulent English hoppiness crisply dances on the tongue, combining with a soft maltiness - not overly sweet or caramelly, really done well, with a bready rye-spicy finish. Subtle yet complex, this beer is a true pleasure. This is a pale ale I could drink all the time. Very well done.
