4.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 JahNoth (1039) - Rochester, New York, USA - SEP 19, 2009
Candy apple and fuggle-smelling hops in the nose. Brilliant light golden amber in color, very clear, with a thick and rocky head - some lacing. Very clean. Succulent English hoppiness crisply dances on the tongue, combining with a soft maltiness - not overly sweet or caramelly, really done well, with a bready rye-spicy finish. Subtle yet complex, this beer is a true pleasure. This is a pale ale I could drink all the time. Very well done.

(bottle - 22 oz) Amber pour with a fizzy white head. Aroma is a nice mixture of caramel malts and spicy, floral hops. Some nice citrus and pepper makes its way through. Flavor begins with a smooth and sweet caramel flavor with a very nicely balanced and apparent peppery hop middle. Some apple sweetness comes through at the end with a very nice and dry rye finish. Crisp and rather chewy.

Pours an orange amber with a moderate white head. Nose is prominent at first but fades rather quickly. There’s some apricot and raisin, big on the dried fruit spectrum, almost fruit cake-ish. A very long bitter finish dominates with carbonation that borders on the fizzy. A very flavorful brew. It definitely earns points for having some different qualities.

2009-01-13. Orangey body with a nice creamy off-white head. Pleasant orange citrus in the aroma with some mild grainy malt. 7+ Flavour is similar, orange-tangerine citrus, pleasant modest bitterness throughout. Modest malt undercurrent. Average plus palate. 3+ Pleasant, quite quaffable. Bottle shared by Blankboy

16 oz mug at J. Ryan’s (Syracuse). 06FE10.
App.: Clear copper with a small, off-white head.
Aroma: Quite fruity, mainly berries and some dark dried fruits, brown sugar, strawberries, some earthy/woodsy hops, butterscotch (boo!).
Palate: Medium body and medium-low carbonation.
Flav.: Lots of brown sugar, figs, raisins, strawberries, some esters, some pine/resin hops, rye bread crust, so fruity with butterscotch undertones; off-dry with forceful bitterness.
Well done...almost.

My bottle [660ml] shared with HogTownHarry, garthicus, jerc, mabel & GregClow. Pours a deep golden-amber with a small semi-lasting off-white head. Aroma has a hint of rye, some light hops, citrus fruit and bready notes -- I like it. Flavour of malt, rye bread and light floral hops. Average to medium bodied. Good stuff.

Amber colored beneath a dense white head. Aroma of toasty malts, rye, and fruity hops (apricot and pineapple). Firm bitterness followed by spicy rye and some light caramel malt notes. Finishes with flavors of grapefruit zest and piney hops. Not bad.
