COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This style of beer is classified as an American Stout. The focus is on the roasted malts used during the brewing process. Our version uses several of these dark and flavorful malts, thus the color is dark and dense and the taste is robust and hearty.

First beer I bought from this brewery in my hometown. Have to say that the bitterness is trademark of a microbrew but it is loaded with medium to full body dark roasted malt and chocolate/coffee notes. Pours a thick black with copper bubbly head. Great Job Guys! I hope this brewery grows!

Sampled from a 22 oz brown bottle this beer poured a black color with a large foamy brown head that left decent lacing. The aroma was very faint dry malts and floral hops. The flavor was malty and a bit toasty with faint floral hops and a touch of coffee. Medium finish and body. Ok.

22oz - Dark liquid under thin tan head. Some roasted notes, mouthfeel was limp. Just because a beer is dark doesn’t make it a stout. There is the beginnings of one here, and it could use some depth and strength.

Poured a dark black color with a tan colored head that faded quickly. The aroma is of roasted malts and caramel. The flavor was smooth, roasted sweet chocolate malts. The body was thick and creamy with a little bitterness at the end. Decent brew.

Bottle. Pours a clear deep dark black with a medium sized dense dark tan head. Big roast and some sweet chocolate notes. Medium bodied and full of loads of roast. Really nice flavors here, especially on a beer with around 5% ABV. Nice and easy drinking, with a big roast finish. Nicely done.

Shakes out as a sweet stout. Very dark, lots of head to start, disappears quick. Roasted notes + malt in nose + a bit of dark chocolate. Oily palate, dark and sweet, bitter chocolate finish. Not so complex but very very tasty.

I’m giving these guys extra credit for two reasons... first, they are a small brewery trying their best.....and second, I love stout, and I like this a lot. Nothing fancy, just a really tasty, solid stout. Good job guys. I hope the numbers improve.

(bottle - 22 oz) Dark brown pour with a thin tan head. Dark malts and a heavy roasted nose dominate the aroma. Some coffee, but mainly heavily roasted malt and barley. Big roasted coffee flavor at the start with a very dark and rick malt and roast middle. Bitterness lasts through until the end of the flavor with a bitter and lingering aftertaste. Thick and creamy. Really nice stout.

Bottle. Pours a nice opaque brown-black with tan head. Pretty much a straight-forward stout - some coffee, some chocolate, roast malts. Creamy mouthfeel. Nothing exceptional, but certainly better than some of the ratings here. Maybe this year’s batch is just better than last year’s.

Horseheads Sullivan’s Stout is a solid black ale with a thick, creamy, brown sugar-colored head that has some oily bubbles on it. The retention and lacing are outstanding. It has a roasty aroma with notes of coffee and chocolate. Closer in, there is juniper and licorice. It’s medium bodied and very smooth with a dry finish. It’s very clean and quick, but there is a hint of chalkiness left over. Roast is the focus of the flavor. The balance is really good. There is lots of coffee flavor but also licorice and a hint of smoke. Ample bitterness zips all of the flavor up. It’s very drinkable and unambiguously American. These guys really nailed the style.
