MesandSim (5790), London, Greater London, England Nov 5, 2009 A Mes rate. Bottle at the Kulminator. Black with a tan head. Lots of chocolate powder, black malt and raw oak. A little one dimensional if you ask me. The oak is not particularly integrated and seems like a late addition. Oak and chocolate but not in balance. Still a good beer, just feels like it had a bit more to give. sunevdj (1765), Copenhagen OE, Denmark Oct 1, 2009 Bottle at Jesper’s. Pours an opaque black. Black colour, medium beige head. Aroma is lots of wooden, vanillaish, roasted malts, alcohol and some smoked notes. Also some nutty notes. Flavour is roasted, some smoked and alcohol, peat, smoked wood, malts. Words aren’t even enough. Gets better when going warmer. JorisPPattyn (5155), Antwerpen, Belgium Jul 3, 2009 Rim of little bubbles on black beer with foxy rim. Olives - black ones - and some smoked malt, hint of coffee. Flavourwise, the water of the same black olives, but way more smoked malts here; ends on stout grains, as well as coffee. Thick MF, creamy, but not completely full-bodied. A very good, if not utterly-Imperial Stout - and maybe all the better for it. bager (2121), Copenhagen N, Denmark Apr 7, 2009 Bottle thx to Bri. Pitch black with a medium sized brown head. Quite roasted and malty with notes of hops, wood, vanilla and chocolate. A bit too much liqourice for my taste. But prettty good.
