Cask conditioned at the Ale Wagon, Leicester (RB Crawl). Pale brown colour with slight head. Big butterscotch, caramel flavour overwhelms the beer, with a sweet but astringent body. Mid malts tug it back to drinkable with inklings of floral hops, but overall quite disapointing. Dry finish.

Cask-conditioned at the Three Tuns, Bristol 2/12/10. Copper coloured with a decent white head. Aroma of caramel, bready malts and leafy hops. Flavour had an earthy, spicy character, with some berry fruit and a long, bitter finish. Enjoyable.

A fine toasty and tasty, easy-going, soapy, orangey and leafy bitter. It keeps its off-white cover over the amber body forever. Earthy, relaxing. Not necessarily all perfectly integrated flavours, but still well brewed if a bit too polite.

Attractive mid copper colour. Like the ESX I had previously, there was a lot of butterscotch in the aroma. Toffee, caramel and grainy malt too. The same characteristics carried through into the flavour. Some nice sappy hop tones came through, but rather too late to save the day entirely. Palatable, but unexciting, fare. Cask (handpump), at the Ale Wagon, Leicester.

Hand pulled at the Ale Wagon, Leicester. Pale copper colour and rather watery looking. No head whatsoever, and a very slight aroma. Appley taste, hop hint and malty body. Very light, crisp and slightly tangy in a creeping way - again very like apple juice. Fruity with a dry finish. Simple stuff really.

Cask conditioned no sparkler. A mid brown bitter with a good flavour. I noticed a biscuity aroma and flavour. Very pleasant and drinkable.

Promise I didn't copy Richard's scores! This is a fresh, clean bitter with a slight saltiness and sulphur. Toffee and caramel maltiness is present along with licourice in the finish. Not exactly bitter, though.

Lightly hopped aroma and a standard lightly hopped English bitter flavour. An easy drink, with very plain qualities.
