50 cl swing top bottle (and that’s a plus). Yellow color, rocky white head, some particles in suspension. Quiet nose. Bready malts, a bit grainy, straw, something like cardboard reminding me of supermarket canned pilseners. Taste is not exciting, minimal malts sweetness then a bland hops balance. Texture tends to be oily, thin bodied, average carbonation. Pretty neat but and easy to drink, but far from a proper Helles, average.

500 ml flip-top bottle bought at Gorgeous Wine & Cigar in Yuen Long.

Light golden yellow colour; One finger head and white foam which fades in 40 seconds; No lacing with fizzy carbonation;Quite pungent smell of malt, light bread, light citrus and grass; Very low sweet taste of malt, light bread, faint citrus and low straw; Light body, close to watery palate; Mouth feel is a highly carbonated watered down Helles, with low malt taste and low hop character - lowgrassy nose, small amount of citrus and Helles like low bitterness and astringency; Pretty dry after taste, very easy to mouth.

Comments: A Helles which borders on macro pales - with watered down body, smell and taste - yet it still retains most of Helles characters, which is amazing. This one is made for pairing with heavy meals like roast pork knuckles and sauerkrauts, as it’s light and able to cool down the roasted meats. As a session beer, this is rather disappointing. Drink this wisely on the right occasion and it’ll work just right for you.

0.5 l bottle from local supermarket as Adler König das Echte Hell (same picture in the label). Bubbles, not much of a head to be seen. This is a very light beer. I would say rather watery. You could find some hints of malts and hops in the aftertaste if you really try. Still this was what I was expecting.

This helles has a bit of an edge, a sharp hoppy bitterness. Pours clear golden with short foamy head. Sparse carbonation. Aroma is malt and a touch of citrus. Taste is crackers, sourdough, hops and lemon. After working all day on a hot day, this tastes pretty darn good.

Bottle 0.5L. Clear golden body with a small, frothy, white head, mostly diminishing with virtually no lacing. Light-to-moderate malty (grains, straw) and hoppy (herbal) aroma. Nicely balanced bitter/sweet flavour; moderate bitter finish. Light body with a watery-to-oily texture; soft carbonation.
