3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Douberd (635) - NETHERLANDS - MAY 25, 2013
500 ml swing top bottle, bought in Germany. Poured into a snifter. ABV 7.2%
Colour is deep mahogany brown, with red ruby shades once hold against the light. One finger of off-white head, with average retention.
Aroma is mostly milky chocolate, with malts and hay on the background.
Taste is not much different than the aroma. Again, milky chocolate, malts, the hay, although less notable, a somewhat red wine-y taste but only for a glimpse, and after all of the above parade, the chocolate returns, much heavier now and with a good duration.
Medium thin to thick body, good carbonation and quite dry palate.
Overall, very tasty dobbelbock, I should keep an eye for those in Germany.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Acid303 (262) - Barcelona, CATALONIA, - MAY 15, 2013
50cl bottle, served in Weizen. Pours red-brown with small white frothy head. Both aroma and taste are caramel, red grape and ripe fruits. Sugary palate. Medium body, average carbonation. In short that’s what basically is, just add it’s well balanced and soft. Not difficult to drink for those who never tried a Doppelbock beer.

bottle, courtesy of pivnizub! Deep brown colour, creamy off-white head. Full-bodied, intensively malty with caramel and chocolate, also ovomaltive flavour.

Bottle. Pours a mostly clear dark brown color with a smallish white head. Very malty nose with a bit of caramel elements coming through. Taste is very slightly sweet, but a tad toasty, too. Fairly easy drink.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 brief_smile (100) - Cheshire, ENGLAND - APR 17, 2013
Reddish amber colour, small head. Aroma: toffee, bready malts, dark fruits. Taste: plenty of sweet toffee, dark fruits, marzipan, toast, slight hop presence. Finish is smooth and warming. Good sipper.
1.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 gypsyheadbrews (9) - - APR 4, 2013 does not count
I hate to knock what most folks are calling a great beer, but you shouldn’t be able to tell the alcohol content in a dopplebock quite as strongly as this. It’s not a higher alcohol thing, nothing like that, it’s a mouthfeel and body issue that seems to be knocking it for me. That and an overall sweetness that I just can’t get past. Sure, decent maltiness and along the right flavor lines, but way too sweet and filling
4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 drpimento (1936) - La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA - MAR 12, 2013
Very good beer. Glad to have gotten it from Let’s Pour. Poured at a good temperature with a decent light tan head that soon settled down and a bit of lace. Color is a clear amber cherry with some bubble trails. Aroma is a pleasing blend of toffee, caramel, malt, roast, fruit. Flavor’s much like nose plus coffee, toast, and just enough bitter and carbonic tang to balance. Finish is average length and very easy drinking. Wish I could get more.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 ferit (69) - - MAR 9, 2013
+ mooi donker root. Schuim is wel snel weg.
+ zoete bloemen geur.
Eerste smaak - zacht zoet, 2de smaak - hout, 3de smaak - bittet met een alcohol prikkel. Een normale doorsnee bockbier. Enige pluspunt is de houtsmaak.

It pours dark brown with a huge beige head on top. Sweet but balanced. Complex and great flavor. Great beer
