3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from Trinkgut in Goch. The beer is dark ruby colored, with a small and fast disappearing cream colored head, CO2 level is good. In the aroma the sweetness of dark fruits and caramel, and also tones of roasted malts and a hint of alcohol. The taste is light sweet with tones of caramel, to change in a light malty bitterness with a alcoholic finish. The finish is malty and a little alcoholic. Overall, a nice Doppelbock.

2.4 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Reviewed on 19/12/14. Bottle, 500ml. A clear dark ruby beer with a small white head that fades away almost inmediatly. Aroma is of dried fruits, alcohol and maybe apple cider. Not much going on really. Taste is bitter with a strong alcoholic finish. Moderate carbonation and some astringency. Gets out of control at the end. Nice deers in the bottle.

Bottle, 500ml. Clear ruby with a frothy tan head. Aroma is of dried fruits, caramel, cereal and alcohol. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Sweet malt character with a robust alcohol and bitter finish. Heavy and warming, but lacks the character of a top German Strong Lager.

Taste is also sweet malts, some roasted malts, brown sugar, raisins and plums and some yeast. It is medium to low body with medium carbonation. It’s not that bad.

Schöner Doppelbock mit eher mildem Aroma, welches aber dem Geschmack keinen Abbruch macht.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Dark copper body with a beige head. Extremely malty and strong aroma of malt extract, sweet caramel and dark dried fruits (lots of prunes). Strong flavour of malt extract and sweet caramel, dark dried fruits in that back and some nutty traces. Very sweet taste with a light bitterness in the finish. Close to full-bodied, syrupy texture and soft carbonation. A good one if you like sweet malty stuff.
