Really poor, specially on taste side, for a dunkelweizen... Anyway... it’s not bad

500 mml bottle tasted on the Mulheim an de Ruhr bierborse (12/07/2014). Dark brown colour with a foamy white head. Aroma of wheats, malts and banana. Taste is roasted malts, bananas and cereals with presence of high carbonation. Sweet and dry aftertaste. Not the best Dunkelweizen but not so bad. Next one please!

500 ml bottle as part of Höss’ Xmas 4-pack bought at Gorgeous Wine & Cigar in Yuen Long.

Cloudy hazy deep brown colour with dirt-like yeast sediments; Two finger head with crumpety off-white foam which lasts for about 2 minutes; Very sticky lacing and active carbonation; Quite fragment aroma of banana, vanilla, caramel, light chocolate, strong cloves, wheat malt, light malt and straw; Light sweet taste of light roasted malt, with flash of strong tartness, light metallic, wheat, hint of red fruits, light phenolic, cloves, citrus and very light grass; Mid to light body, slick, crisp and creamy palate; Mouth feel is quite creamy light roasted malt in a thin body with strong wheat presence, pretty crisp. Tartness is cherry like, very potent but ended abruptly. All other tastes are pretty light to pave the way for easy drinking; Hoppiness is slight strawy nose, citrus and light grass taste. Bitterness is barely detectable, and finishing is just tart flashes; Pretty dry after taste, easily crisp and creamy and to mouth.

Comments: A borderline decent Dunkelweiss: lots of wheat, interesting flashes of strong tartness, crtsp as well as slightly creamy. Shortfalls being low-fi in aroma and taste. As “roasted malt beer” is an ingredient, no wonder the roastyness is so low. Give this one some real malts and tastes and it’ll be right on top. For now it’s just an easy Summer quaffer.

Bottled Beers of Europe. Bready, light cinnamon aroma. A bit thin but reasonably tasty, with a dry yeasty finish. Fairly carbonated; with some lightly sour ripe fruits.

Bottle. Pours dark brown with a big creamy off-white head. Aroma is fruity yeast with banana, as well as roasted malts with bread and notes of coffee and chocolate. Quite light body with creamy texture and soft carbonation. Flavour is sweet with roasted malts and chocolate, as well as some notes of fruity yeast. Lightly burned finish.

I’m rather surprised at the low ratings on this, I’m really enjoying this one. Pours reddish brown with thick fluffy head, active carbonation keeps the head in place. Aroma of roast grains, toast, pumpernickel. Taste is smooth, milldy bitter, more pumpernickel and prunes. Usual weizen notes of banana and bubblegum in there too. Easy to drink, almost gone before the review is finished.
