With Holzar beer we resurrect an old brewing specialty from Allgäu. Our forefathers drank Holzar beer especially in the wintertime. / Not only in winter - every time is Holzar time.

50cl bottle. A beer that didn’t impress me. It was ok, but that’s it. Not returning in my fridge soon....

Deep reddish brown with a minimal head. Sweetish and malty aroma with a hint of caramel. Taste is sweetish and malty too with notes of caramel, bread and liquorice. Very moderate hoppy bitterness. Rather short finish. Medium to lively carbonation. Not bad. (0,33l bottle, bb 04.11.2015).

Clear brown ruby colored beer with fine pored foam head. Light malty smell. The taste is strongly carbonated and has a malty fresh flavor with licorice notes and sweet hints. Heavy, yet fresh character, but a bit aggressive carbonation.

Bottle from Supervalu, Longford [300515]
Dark amber, clear, frothy white head
Aroma of soft caramel malts, slightly fruity, dab of bready malt
Taste of soft caramel, light bitter hops, hint of bread crust, not a lot going on here, simple flavour, but the malt here is quite nice
Palate - Soft carb, medium light body. Finish of light caramel malts
Overall - Simple easy going beer, seemed underflavoured for the abv, average overall

Lovely German beer. Very tasty and extremely smooth. Would consider this to be easy to drink alongside many other German brews

Copenhagen 5/5 2015. 50 cl bottle brought from Germany by my brother in law. Old fashioned bottle with swing cap and label with a German lumberjack in folk costume chopping away. Pours clear light brown with big white head. Settles gradually. Aroma of malty sweetness balanced with light sourness. Medium carbonation. Taste of malts - not too sweet and with moderate bitterness for balance. Not very exciting - despite the lumberjack - but solid.
