0.5l bottle from LCBO. Pours a very cloudy pale orange, with a frothy white head. Lots of carbonation. Lighter colour near the bottom. Aroma: Very spicy, very wheaty. Kinda skunky. Smells more like a belgian wit than a hefeweizen. Palate: Medium bodied, extremely fizzy, and very astringent for a hefeweizen. Gives it a slight sour tinge, but makes it feel kinda off to me. Maybe it was just sitting on the LCBO’s shelves for half a year. Taste: Sweet, kinda flat. Not much flavour here, but it’s not awful. Probably helps that it feels like 44C outside. Add some lemon and it can’t be bad at all. (Definitely one of the worst hefeweizen’s i’ve had though)

On tap at the Irish pub Monahans at the Roxy hotel in Cape Vincent. Pours cloudy yellow with small head. Nose of banana and wheat. Tastes of banana, wheat and cloves. Well carbonated and refreshing but thinner and less body than the typical Hefe.

On tap at the Irish pub Monahans at the Roxy hotel in Cape Vincent. Took forever to figure out what beer this was. Just had a small sample of this citrus heavy hefty. Not super traditional in the form I like, but okay.

A.K.A Weisser Hirsch Allgäuer Weizen. Dark yellow color. Less turbid than the normal Weissbiers with non-lasting white foam. Aroma of banana, wheat, hops and clove. Very soft taste, compared to the others in the style, fruity and spicy touches. An interesting one.

UPDATED: MAY 1, 2014 Botella de 500ml. Vaso weizen. Color dorado y apariencia algo velada. Espuma discreta, tupida y blanca. 500ml bottle. Weizen glass. Golden color, chill haze appearance. Discrete, close, white froth.Intense banana & bread aromas, hints of DMS & estery notes on the backside. Sweet malty & slight floral bitter upfront. Medium body. Moderate to high carbonation. Dense to watery texture & dried mouthfeel. In the middle, low bitterness is overwhelmed by sweetness & lingers into a dry biscuit malt finish. Acidic touch in an estery aftertaste.

Bottle at Kaisla, Helsinki. A golden color with a little white head. Aroma is a bit mild but features some grainy and wheaty maltiness and fresh fruitiness. Taste is typical; wheaty with light spiciness and a hint of banana. A light, smooth body; a very drinkable palate. Simple but not bad.

Draught. Pours yellow hazy in color with a small white head. Rubbery notes, some wheaty sour ones as well. Kind of sweetish in taste, some wheaty notes, not that sour, but more sweet in this case. Sour wheat and rubbery one in aftertaste. Quite nice actually. Don’t know what the others here before have been drinking, but this was good.

500ml flip-top bottle bought at YATA in New Town Plaza, Shatin.

Cloudy hazy pale gold colour with dirt like yeast sediments; Two finger head with crumpety white foam which last for about 90 seconds; Minimal lacing and active carbonation; Very fragrant aroma of banana, vanilla, pineapple, light malt, clove, and spices; Minimal sweet taste of light malt, yeast, cloves, light liquorices, light citrus and straw; Med to light body, quite slick palate; Taste is nearly non-sweet light malt with strong yeast, light phenol, cloves, and spices; Tartness is barely detectable; Hoppiness is mostly light citrus taste with near zero bitterness and astringency. Finishing is light citrus and thread-bare tartness; Slightly dry after taste, very easy to mouth.

Comments: Compare to other German Hefeweiss, this is run-of-the-mill and very average. Decent nose aside, its colour looks very pale and odd, taste is monotone and lacking in diversity, tartness in short supply, and almost zero hoppiness. It costs as much as Paulaner, Keiler or Lammsbrau but failed to be on the same league with them. Not good at all.
