Aroma very fresh, clean and crisp. Neat hop with feel of soft mango puree, herbal hops with gentle tart darkness. 8-
Appearance brownish-black with large creamy head. Rings of lace. Handsome brew. 4+
Flavor and Palate : medium light bodied. Leafy green hop character. Mid accented by woody tartness blended with hints of bubble gum and rose. Leafy bitter end with dry hop sides.

On cask at Volo. Pours a dark brown/black with moderate-sized tan head. Aroma is earthy green hops and toasty. Taste is modestly roasty with earthy hops and a little citrus. Pleasantly bitter finish. Average body. Nice.

January 30, 2012 - on cask at Volo. They say this is better on draught, but helldamn itís fantastic on cask. Pretty much opaque brown-black with a large and lasting fluffy tan rocky head (4+). Aroma is a solid dry roasty mild almost overwhelmed by lush, dry, resin bitterness - sort of three floyds-y - not much alcohol in the aroma, but almost perfect, it works so well! Taste follows, more roast/coffee pushing back on the hops, more assertiveness from the alcohol, but once again it works soooo well. Average body, mild carbonation, a near perfect mouthfeel for cask, and very very hoppy indeed, but not over the top. Love this. Make it again!!! ---Rated via Beer BADASS for iPhone

Cask at Volo. First of all - great name. It appeals to my inner chemist. Deep black with a tight creamy amber/brown head. The aroma is soft and resiny. A light pine and woody hop aroma over some soft cocoa. A bit of roast and some char as well. Assertively hopped with a nice grey bitterness on the back. Sticky sort of pine resin on the palate along with some nice cocoa accentuating the bitterness. Itís got a fantastic mouthfeel - soft carbonation and a silky smooth palate. Rich and creamy that is then cut by the bitterness. Nice stuff - to another hundred batches!

ON tap at Volo. Jet black pour, with a large beige head. Big aroma of pine, resinous hops, and some bold roasted malts, with touches of espresso. Perfect mouth feel and carbonation. The finish was bitter, and incredibly roasty. Nice pine hoppy finish with a great coffee bite. amazing example of the style.

Draft at Volo. Pours a very dark brown, almost black, with an average size semi-lasting frothy tan head. Good lacing. Nice aroma with lots of green leafy hops, some fruit, a hint of coffee and backed by light roasted malt. Big hoppy flavour, lots of leafy hops along with light roasted malt, some coffee, fruit and a big bitter finish. Average to medium bodied, almost creamy mouthfeel. There are too many Black IPAs these days and more that I dislike then like, but this is great stuff, I loved it. -- Rated via Beer Buddy.

2012-01-19. Black body with a nice foamy tan head. Interesting flavour, pleasant bitterness, interesting hop profile, leafy with interesting malt character, dusty notes, muted fruit, toasty English malt undertones. 7+ Nice leafy green hop aroma, mild citrus and fruit undertones. Some roast comes out as it warms. Smooth average bodied plate. Nice, interesting melange of flavours. Cask at Volo, Toronto
