2012-12-31. Black body, small tan head. 3++ Dry aroma has an odd earthy quality to the malt. 6+ Flavour is similar, a dried peas like earthy quality to the malt is sort of English in character and reminds me of something I can’t quite place. Light roast and dark malt. Finishes quite dry and bitter. 6+ Average plus bodied palate. 3+ Decent but not really to my taste today unfortunately. On tap at Volo, Toronto

On tap at Volo. Pours a very dark brown with large beige head. Aroma is very roasty with chocolate, coffee and a little anise. Taste is also very roasty with some sweetish chocolate, coffee and a hint of anise. Some roasty bitterness in finish. Very good.

UPDATED: JAN 3, 2013 Cask at Volo. Dec. 7. Pours a very dark ruby-brown, almost black, with an average size diminishing fizzy beige head. Aroma of sweet roasted malt, lots of coffee, a bit of vanilla and light hops. Flavour has lots of coffee, roasted malt and a hint of chocolate -- it gets slightly more sweet the more you drink it. Average bodied. Quite good and enjoyable.

[5044-20121231] Tap. Light sweet roasted fruit aroma. Black body with a quick creamy light brown head. Light char-roasted boozy malt grain flavour. Full body is just a little on the thin side. Interesting. (7/3/7/3/14) 3.4
