[5044-20121231] Tap. Light sweet roasted fruit aroma. Black body with a quick creamy light brown head. Light char-roasted boozy malt grain flavour. Full body is just a little on the thin side. Interesting. (7/3/7/3/14) 3.4

From Cask Days tent at Beau’s Oktoberfest 2013, Vankleek Hill. An orange tinted black with a short lived white head. Aroma is chocolate, hazelnut, dark berries. Flavor is chocolate, coffee, dark red fruits. Finish is coffee, almonds, hazelnuts, roast. A touch of metal. Light body, watery mouthfeel, null carbonation.

cask days 2013 @ beau’s oktoberfest. clear dark brown pour with a small light beige head. nutty, peppery, decent roastiness, bit of perfume and garbage unfortunately. low carbonation, light body - oily, dry coffee lingering finish. ok.

On cask at Beau’s Octoberfest. Black with a biege head. Incredibly dry, somewhat nutty, oddly earthy, bit of bittersweet chocolate, mild carbonation and pleasant body, quite bitter on the finish and very dry.

On cask at Beaus Oktoberfest. Potent coffee and red fruit aroma with a good dose of chocolate. Almost opaque dark brown with hazy, tawny brown highlights. Sweet and fruity coffee with and interesting spiciness that comes in with a moderate hops bitterness. Medium light body, moderate carbonation, lingering bitter coffee finish.

A really great porter. Dark roasty, nice amount of sweetness. Nothing to criticize really. Shared with Northropfrye at BarVolo, Toronto. I loved it!

Tap at BarVolo. Dark body, brown head, nice lacing. Aroma of coffee and roasted malts. Nice sweetness to this. Tastes like a coffee crisp bar, a bit I mean. Nice.

2012-12-31. Black body, small tan head. 3++ Dry aroma has an odd earthy quality to the malt. 6+ Flavour is similar, a dried peas like earthy quality to the malt is sort of English in character and reminds me of something I can’t quite place. Light roast and dark malt. Finishes quite dry and bitter. 6+ Average plus bodied palate. 3+ Decent but not really to my taste today unfortunately. On tap at Volo, Toronto

On tap at Volo. Pours a very dark brown with large beige head. Aroma is very roasty with chocolate, coffee and a little anise. Taste is also very roasty with some sweetish chocolate, coffee and a hint of anise. Some roasty bitterness in finish. Very good.

Smells a little odd. Pours black with some head but no lacing. Watery body with some fizziness. There is some nutty bitterness in the aftertaste. On tap at volos.

UPDATED: JAN 3, 2013 Cask at Volo. Dec. 7. Pours a very dark ruby-brown, almost black, with an average size diminishing fizzy beige head. Aroma of sweet roasted malt, lots of coffee, a bit of vanilla and light hops. Flavour has lots of coffee, roasted malt and a hint of chocolate -- it gets slightly more sweet the more you drink it. Average bodied. Quite good and enjoyable.
