3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
2012-07-27. Lightly hazy orange amber body, small off-white head. 3+ Aroma is modestly alcoholic, sweet malt and caramel, sort of a green hop/flora melange that I find a bit strange. 6+ Flavour has a similar strange melange, moderate alcohol grows and is more prominent that is ideal by the end. Dry malt, sweeter caramel notes. Finishes dry and sort of odd. 6+ Average plus bodied palate is fairly smooth and softly effervescent. Did not really care much for this today. Perhaps a return visit might fair better? On tap at Volo, Toronto

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
[4621-20120727] Tap. Super orange hops aroma. Murky, dark orange body with a quick foamy light grey head and thick lacing. Buttery orange pine hops flavour is quite bitter. Medium body. Great bitter bite, lovely balance. (8/4/8/4/16) 4.0

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On Cask at Volo. Appearance: Murky brown, when light shone through it, it was a dirty orange (staff did mention they weren’t too happy with appearance) Snow white head. Aroma: Nutty, fruity, good amount of hops, marzipan, almond. Flavour: Nutty, good dose of alcohol, marzipan again, almonds, quite hoppy, strawberry with a long bitter finish.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap at Volo. Pours a cloudy orangey brown with modest-sized off-white head. Aroma is caramel, citric hops and a little brown sugar. Flavour is caramel, citrus and some sweet almost brown sugar character. Fine, fairly active carbonation. Average plus body. Nice.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Hazy orange pour with a thick white head. The aroma is softly spicy with a lot of bitter orange peel. There is a whiff of slight citrusy hoppiness as well. A touch of hot side oxidation in this one that you don’t routinely see here. A touch of lingering bitterness on the back of the palate as well. Okay - but not my favourite of the stuff they’ve made here.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
July 20, 2012 - on cask (I think) at Volo. A caveat here - they were not entirely happy with the appearance of this one, but otherwise it was all systems go. Poured murky, borderline muddy brownish-gold with a solid if smallish beige frothy lasting (10+ minutes!) head. Aroma - so lush and juicy-floral-citrus, with a little vague roast and hint of cocoa for good measure. Taste really surprised - more alcohol, and it reminded me of a slightly sweet watered down west coast barleywine but lighter on the citrus-resin bitterness and a little more like Lagunitas brown sugga (not that sweet, but like that) - sweet, malty, hoppy but in the background. Thick and chewy, mild carbonation, quickish finish - I will have this again for sure.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Smells a little fruity, grapefruit but has some Belgian alcohol and floral hops aroma. Pours muddy looking as the name says. A little lacing, no head retention. Dirty brown with lots of sediment. Palate is Belgian in a sense, a little bit of alcohol, a little bit of wild yeast. There’s some good funk in it. On tap at volos.
