4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Cask at Volo. Pours a cloudy orange-copper with a small lasting bubbly off-white head. Mild aroma at first but then, wham, it smells hoppy baby! Juicy, fruity, hoppy -- it smells fantastic! After the hop smorgasbord of the aroma, the flavour is more subtle at first but sip after sip it opens up and gets hoppier along with citrus and more fruit. Long bitter finish. Average to medium bodied. A really solid beer, everyone seemed to be loving it, I know I did.

Cask at 2012 Volo IPA Challenge. Very pale hazy golden colour. Tropical and citrusy with lemongrass and tropical fruit. Some bright lemon peel and orange. Zesty and a lingering clean bitterness. My favourite so far.

UPDATED: APR 26, 2012 [3677-20110413] Cask. Macintosh sweet apple cinnamon pie with a sweet hoppy citrus juice aroma. Hazy, medium orange body with a medium-lasting creamy off-white head. Sweet citrus hops flavour has a nice long sweet aftertaste. Medium body is quite bitter but in a smooth way. Excellent balance, repeatable and delicious -- would love to see this on regularly. Draft @ bar volo. Pours cloudy light amber with a steady off white lacing creamy head. Aroma is very nice; fruity citric a bit piny grapefruity has some sweetness. Flavor is mild creamy nicely malty a bit caramel on top, citrucy piny fruity good bitterness mates well with the rest of the flavors not taking over. Excellent session beer.

UPDATED: AUG 21, 2012 2012-08-15. Crisp orange body with a small beige head. 3+ pleasant aroma is fairly hoppy, modest fruity character, leafy lightly musty green hops. Tangerine citrus notes come out more after a good swirl of the glass. 7+ Flavour is similar with hoppy character throughout, mild citrus notes build slowly, mild orange and tangerine citrus melange with notes of green leafy hops. Citrus starts to take over in the second half of the glass, pleasantly so. 7+ Average plus palate is softly carbonated. Pretty solid, enjoyable. 7+/3+/7+/3/15+ Batch contract brewed at Black Oak, On tap at Volo, Toronto
2012-04-21. Very fruity aroma, sweet orange and hints at tropical fruit, very mild vegetation/green hops. 7+ Lightly hazy dark orange body with tiny head. Flavour ha similar sweet orange character, but less so. Green hop character is a bit stronger in the flavour, light bitterness, lingering leafy hops in the finish. Okay, bit too much green hop profile for me. 7+/3/7/3/15 Blind Tasting on Cask at Volo IPA Challenge
2011-04-12. Hazy pastel orange nice white head. Lovely citrus aroma tangerine and peach, mild yeast and just a hint of dried grass. 8+ Flavour has similar mandarin/ tangerine citrus and peach fruit character up front, bitterness is light at first but grows steadily. The finish is not quite astringent but has a strong grapefruit like bitterness that is moving in that direction, and is a bit rough in my first glass. By the second glass the tongue has acclimatized to the bitterness and it seems less rough around the edges, it is still a bit sharp but in a refreshing ítake another sipí way. Average to light palate is good for a cask and is appropriately carbonated, suits the beer I think. First impression was that the flavour didnít match the aroma but it catches up. Finish can be just a bit rough but still brings you back for more. Pretty solid, and very interesting. I went back for more. 9/3/7/3/16 - 3.8 Cask at Volo, Toronto

UPDATED: JAN 31, 2012 April 12, 2011 - cask pint at Volo. Looks gorgeous - cloudy/murky orange-gold with a solid smallish lasting frothy/creamy beige head. Kick-ass aroma - catnip, cat pee, resin, juicy malt (8+). Taste disappoints a tad - more leafy than resin, dry and toasty, no real alcohol presence; decent, but I was expecting more - average body, mild carbonation, medium-long dry, somewhat scorched finish and linger .... more body and more flavour hops and you have a solid 4.0 brew.
