[4536-20120621] Tap. Roasted sweet nutty coffee grounds aroma. Black body with a quick creamy tan head. Bitter roasted malt flavour has a bit of a funk to it. Full body. Great to sample, horrible for 40-degree weather. (8/3/7/4/15) 3.7

From notes, at Bar Volo. Pours an opaque black with a light brown head. Aroma of roasted grains and slight herbal notes. Flavours of grains and slight hop bitter, some mildly sweet oatmeal notes.

Draught at Volo, July 9. Pours a very dark brown, almost black, with an average size frothy light-brown or tan head. Aroma is roasty along with lots of coffee, some chocolate and light leafy hops. Flavour of coffee first followed by chocolate, a good amount of fruit and light leafy hops. Average to medium bodied, creamy mouthfeel. Wow, this is great stuff.

July 9, 2012 - on draught at Volo. Black opaque pour, solid long-lasting creamy beige-light brown mottled head (4+). Aroma - dry; treacle, grain, deep roast, hint of mint - lovely. Taste - wow - a bit of Peche with way, way lower alcohol - not a lot of oatmeal going on, only somewhat sweet, very dry and mildly roasty grain, terrific balance, a little bitterness in the background. Good full body, slick, mild to medium carbonation, fairly quick-finishing and bit of a sticky linger - reminded me of a milder peche mortel with much less coffee and a hint of spiciness ... dare I bring this to 4.0 - yes!!!

2012-06-21. Black body with a nice tan head. Dry roast over sweet dark malt, with hints of dry cocoa character. 7+ Flavour is similar, dry roasty malt, sweet dark malt middle, modest roast lingers long into the finish. 7+ Smooth average plus to medium bodied palate. Not super complex, but rather good. Possibly the best on offer tonight in my opinion. OCB Week Tap Takeover at Volo, Toronto.

Aroma fig, alcohol warmth, sweet malt, sweet chocolate. Mild wrap. Good.7+
Appearance poured dark black with medium tanned beige cap. Rings of foam on glass walls.
Flavor and Palate : frontal accents of raisin and plum. Hefty bodied, smooth with oily texture. Mellow leafy bitternes at finish. Warmth of alcohol noted. Solid.

FM Tap takever at Bar Volo. Roast aroma. Black with retained head of 3/16". Thick lace lines. Dry finish, just short of acidic. Smooth mouthfeel. Aromas of licorice and chocolate. Not very sophisticated, but solid for the style.
