Swing-top bottle: Clear, amber coloured, thin, but stable white fluffy head; malty, also aromatic hoppy nose, roast malt, caramel, liquorice, too; dry malty flavour with a certain fruitiness and a light bitterness; malty and fruity finish with a light bitter aftertaste. Mild, pleasant, not too aromatic brew...........................

500 ml heavy dark green swingtop bottle, cool. Bought in Bier Spezi, Hamburg. Amber colour, large to moderate off-white head. Lovely hoppy aroma when pouring, not equally impressive in the glass. For something from Germany called "Bitterbier" I kind of expected a hoppy explosion, but the bitterness is actually very moderate. Still, some hops are around, and they are quite well balanced with the malts. Hints of caramel and a certain herbal spiciness too. Unusual style for Germany, but not really remarkable.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
(Bottle 50 cl) Clear, amber coloured beer with a fine head. A bit sweetish malt on a solid body. If the name make you expect a bitter beer, you’ll be surprised as this has no more bitterness than your average German pilsener. Has some wheat malt thrown in also. Style wise this is very unusual for Germany. 090300
