Formerly known as "Hövels Original Bitterbier". Nowadays sold Germany-wide with the additive "Feinherbes Rotgold".

UPDATED: NOV 18, 2014 Nice amber beer. I expected a bit more after having poured it into the glass. Malty. Not bitter although that was its former name. A beer of which you can drink many in a row.

Deep pearl white tall head. Clear amber-copper body. Hops, yeast and caramel to the nose. Bread, dark caramel, hops, dough and fruits to the tongue. Easy going on palate. Finishes to fruity breads and dark sweet bread. Nice enough. [50 cl. green special swingtop btl. 5.5%abv. BB28.1.15]

Countbeer (4831) - Best of E-Town mit ein Brauhaus, NETHERLANDS - JUL 30, 2014
Bottle: Served in a Chouffe glass: Medium sized off white foamy head on top of a clear amber colored beer. Aromas of malts, some iron, grain and oat tints, some sweet malts... Flavour is malty, bitter, sweaty, some caramel and some herbs... Meh... Aftertaste is strange bitter and malty with a herbal edge. Low carbo, creamy mouthfeel, medium unbalanced body and a light creamy texture. Quite unbalanced with a strange bitterness.

On tap at pub in Berlin. Has a clear amber colour with a medium, light beige head. Light aroma of leather, caramel, sweet malt and some cinnamon. The flavour is slightly fruity with more caramel, wood, raisins and some alcohol. Slick mouth feel, and the bitterness is light. An okay ale but rather light and boring.

Draught. Pours a clear brown color with a small light tan head on there. Nose is fairly bready with some slight toasting to it. Taste is slightly sweet as well as slightly toasty, and actually drinks moderately crisp, which was nice to try. Pretty easy drink.
