Dunkle Altbierfarbe. Der Geschmack gibt sich nur minimal herb. Vielmehr haben hier die süßen Aromen das Sagen. Ein perliges Erlebnis. Abgang leicht malzig ausklingend. Test vom 24.11.2006, Gebinde: Glasflasche

Bottle 50cl, a clear brown amber beer with good head. Nose is caramel like. Aroma is malty and toasted, mostly dry specially at the finish, very long aftertaste on bitter toasted notes. Body is a bit dry paper like but a good beer.

Milder Antrunk, wenig malzig. Fast wässrig, im hinteren Mittelteil etwas herb werdend, im Abgang eher malziger, erstmals würzig, dies ist schnell verflogen. Etwas entäuschend. Test vom 12.5.2008, Gebinde: Fass Noten: 12,8,8,9,-,8 - 8,57

Bottle. Medium brown with not too big but lasting head. Aroma is of grain, nuts, resin, some dried fruit and smoke, very slightly soapy. Carbonation medium to high, taste is grain, resin, pine, dried fruit. Bitterness is medium, could be higher for my liking but still it’s a very good altbier.

roasted malts and floral noble hops with a soft but effervescent body. balanced but malt forward. a nice session beer that falls between a maibock and a marzen, and greatly compliments german food.

On tap at Zum Alten Markt, Dortmund. Poured dark copper in colour with foamy whitish head. Bready malty aroma. Flavour similar. Well carbonated. Quite dry finish.

Draft on a beautiful day in Mainz. Fairly normal altbier but the thing that surprised me was it had a nice, fresh tartness. Almost a touch of citrus sourness, but it seemed like it belonged there. Refreshing.

Draft at Epcot 2010 food and wine fest. Brown pour with nose of earthy malt, mild hops, brown sugar. Tastes malty, with late noble subdued hops and citric tannins.
