Draught at the brewpub
Very dark brown color, with nice red beams near the edges; creamy head; nice lace. Breadish aroma, and some roasted malt. Smooth mouthfeel; roasted malt flavor with character; late, light liquorice; correct bitterness. Overall balanced. Very good.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Dark brown colour. Fudgey, chocolatey aroma. Sweetish flavour with more fudge and chocolate. Fairly simple. Like a liquified brownie.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
1L swingtop from Star Grocery in Berkeley, CA. Pours black with a foamy dark tan head. Aromas of coffee, chocolate and perhaps treacle. Med body; foamy carb. It’ got gritty burnt malt, sweetish chocolate and decent coffee. Not getting treacle. Finishes dry. Drinks pretty well. Reminds me of what a regular stout can taste like.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Black in color with a creamy khaki head. The nose is heavy on the roasted malt and coffee. There’s a touch of toasted bread, some cocoa, and maybe a little bit of ash. The flavor is a bit on the watery side. A fair amount of roasted malt, coffee, and dark chocolate, though. Not as rich and creamy as most oatmeal stouts. A bit of ash and soy sauce.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Standard brown pour with a lighter brown head. Overly roasty, dry, cocoa nibs, ashy. Not my favorite.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
One-litre swingtop brought back. Brown with a thick soapy head. Good roast aroma. Hits the spot on style. Lace dots. A sourish acidic edge and also well malted down. Still good drinkability.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Dark black, ruby tinted beer with a thin tan head. No nitro, which is always a bonus. Typical chocolate and coffee aroma, nice mouthfeel. Chocolate flavour dominates, but there is a hint of of the coffee and some cherry fruitiness as well. Roasty bitter finish.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
1L bottle. Poured cola brown with a short, fluffy tan head.. looked good in the glass. The aroma picked up sweeter chocolate and biscuit malts, with hints of vanilla.. just a little earthiness on the back.. sweet and welcoming. The flavor found milky chocolates, vanilla, and a pinch of molasses, with tangy malt character around.. sweet oats were more pronounced on the back-end.. nothing un-enjoyable there. Lighter-bodied and sweet on the palate.. balance was solid, and this was easy-drinkin’. No problems taking down the 1L.
