A rich and lovely spiced cake nose. The initial taste is a touch bitter, followed by a creamy exhale of the cakes suggested on the nose, with a hint of banana, but overall I find it smells better than it tastes.

A very nice winter beer. Like the best fruitcake you ever tasted. Smooth, a bit flat. Malty, fruity, but generally a very pleasant, enjoyable beer. Not up there with the top-quality specials, but this is the affordable beer you drink in between. I got the litre bottle, which makes for a nice pint on two consecutive days.

Clear amber in colour. Thin, frothy off-white head. Aroma of nutmeg, cinnamon, vanilla, clove. Taste of dark malts, roasted coffee, additional spice notes. Medium body, average carbonation. Slightly creamy, slick texture. Lingering spice finish. Pretty nice.

Bottle shared. Cloudy light brown. Aroma is silky cinnamon, light licorice, tootsie roll. Taste is sweet. Thin, slightly creamy.

Rating #985 - February 16, 2014 - 1oz from a 1 L swingtop, $10.39 CAD at coop 7%. Clear amber pour, that produces a minimal bubbly foam even when poured aggressively. Aroma is potent, quite a bit of cinnamon, nutmeg, and caramel malt. Taste is malty and heavy on the nutmeg, hint of cinnamon, and sweet caramel. This is a pretty good seasonal, and despite the presence of fairly heavy flavours, it remains a balanced, full bodied ale.

It Pours brown copper with very little head. Aroma = Christmas cake, minced meat tarts and cloves, I don?t know about this one. Yep, Tastes just like it smells, just add gingerly to the palate. I?m afraid I?m not a fan.

Dark brown beer with good frothy head. In a bar so hard to smell the aroma, but I sense a hint of caramel. I am not sure why, but it tastes a little flat, but it was poured from a fresh pitcher. The taste lingers on the palate and it’s got a little bit of a bite. I think I like the graville island winter ale or the chestnut winter ale a lot better

Draft - Dark malts with winter spices. Clear amber with a decent brown. Pumpkin spices and dark malts, much too much spice.
