3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a rich mahogany colour with a medium white head. The aroma is quite nice; roasted malts, caramel malts, vanilla and spices; cinnamon, nutmeg. The taste to is fairly malty with spice, but it also has a nice bitterness to it. Medium-full body, abrupt finish and a rather thick mouth feel. It creates a nice warming sensation in the chest too. Overall a very nice beer but only in the winter.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Dark amber sparkly paint, off white fizzy cap that lives as a skim with a bit of spotty lacing. Mild aroma. Warm and comforting due to the lack of overpowering spices. Oh, they are there but they exist in a proper portion for my liking. Sweet cinnamon, nutmeg, all spice, etc... roasted malts, dirt, raisins, more sweet spice than strong spice, caramel. The taste is also mildly spiced but not lacking a healthy dose of them. Caramel, pepper, roast malts similar to bocks, raisin, plum, marshmallows. Very very drinkable, nothing strong, good malts carry this beer with ease. I’m surprised at how much I don’t dislike this beer. I actually have no problem consuming the entire 1L bottle. My first Howe Sound beer - good initial impression. I just looked at the label and this is 7% - serious? Sure fooled me. Lots of carbonation seems to suit the beer very well. Medium malt finish with light spice now that it’s warmer. A smooth, easy drinking beer.

Love these giant bottles with the flip tops they always make me smile. Oh man this smells good. Cloudy brown body with an average looking cap, nice and long lasting though. Mmmm……smells like baking and memories of Christmas past. Nutmeg, cloves, vanilla, honey all can be tasted all built on a thick chewy malty back bone. Brew almost has eggnog like flavours but not really. A mild coffee like bitterness is noticeable in the finish. Great Christmas brew, highly enjoyable, perfect on a cold winter day infront of the T.V.

Hazy copper color with a large head. Aroma of apples, pears and cloves. Lots of clove flavor, some caramel malts and a bit of orange. Maybe some Munich malt notes, too. There’s something... not quite sour or tart, but getting to that end of the spectrum. Not bad, but after a half liter, I found it difficult to want the other half.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Beer pours a bloody amber with minimal head. Ginger comes through in the nose. Proper ale taste, very malty. A slight bitter aftertaste of hops. Not bad for a spiced xmas beer.

4.4 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Foggy light red colour (like a winter’s fog settling in on a town) with medium head. Huge nose bursting with cherries, plums, sugar cane, lime and exotic spices. I could smell this one all day long! Rarely do I come across such a lively and rich nose. The taste starts off exactly the same, with gigantic malt and more cherries. Mid palate shows a hint of pepper and some salt water taffee, with a finish that’s surprisingly short but quietly rich in citrus. An extremely well-crafted beer which should be in everyones fridge at some point or another, a real gem!

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
1L brown swingtop bottle. Amber-brown colour, thick beige head. Nose is gingery, spicy, sweet. Sweet malts in the mouth, caramel, spicy notes (nutmeg), finishes moderately hoppy with some leafy/citrus tones, slight lingering bitterness with some nutty malt aftertaste. Trace of alcohol. Carbonation a bit prickly, medium bodied.
