Some chocolate and roasty character complement the floral and citrus hop aroma. Opaque dark brown body is topped by a generous and long lasting, frothy, tan-brown head that coats the sides of the glass with lacing. Dry roasty flavour with plenty of dark fruit and some chocolate and berries. Moderate bitterness. Medium full body with lovely soft bubbled carbonation and expansive bubbles that feels great in the mouth. Tulip glass. Cellar temperature. Bottle purchased at Liberty on Commercial in June 2012.

Reddish dark brown, lots of toasty character, breadcrust. Has a sweet hazelnutty character. It’s okay beer, but not massive character.

I enjoyed this at Barley Brothers in Winnipeg. Dark with lots of roastiness and some dark chocolate element. Bitter but not crazy bitter. Nice beer!

Sweet and roasty aroma. Even some honey on the nose. Dark body plenty of lacing. Very roasty tasting in contrast to a sweeter aroma. Some hops but not a very bitter black IPA. More roast than hops especially in the aftertaste

Dark brown with reddish hue pour with frothy tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, slight citrus, faint caramel and piney hops. Taste of burnt roasted malts, faint caramel, bitter hop finish. Full bodied, medium carbonation, long bitter cloying finish.

Good amount of slightly tan head. Pours as a dark redish brown. Almost feels like this beer is bitter to punish me. Fairly lasting taste so I opted to eat some Korean food while I drank this beer. Would recommend with strong flavourful food but not by itself.

Poured from 1L bottle. Very dark brown with off-white head. Aroma of herbal hops. Roasty hoppy flavour.

Stop rating for most of a year and everything is new again. Thick off-white foam on dark reddish-brown liquid has a gathering storm quality. Sweetish aroma with hints of hickory, fruit, bark and caramel. Smooth and easy drinking with a building flavor through the sip. Best part is a tasty bitter herb hop finish with a trace of licorice.

Wildly bland and a bit boring in general with a murky brownish body and a head of huge sticky yellow. The nose is mild with a few citrus notes and a hit of resinous pine. Mild flavour malts with a hint of toast and caramel..a bit of a heavy bitterness on the finish

Winter dark ale. Cloudy brown . Smells of roasted caramel malts, smokey and sweet toffee. Taste is a big mouthful of roasted smokey malts, a little sweet. Finish is more bitter with some hop. Not bad for a winter beer, maybe a little too sweet. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
