COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our lager is a version of the Dortmunder style. It is a pale golden lager, that is balanced between sweet malt and dry hop flavours. The lager has a clean, dry finish with some mild fruitiness delivered by the US version of German Hallertau hops and traditional Polish Lublin.

What is a Dortmunder Lager Style you say? In the mid-19th century, breweries in Dortmund, Germany began brewing a common style of lager that was slightly stronger in alcohol, and that sought a balance between classic German noble hops and the sweetness of pale malts. Where the classic pilsner offered a more pronounced hop aroma and character, the Dortmunder lager offered a firm and even dryness with a slightly alcoholic warmth. The export version of the Dortmunder lager was noticeably higher in alcohol content.

At 5.5% alc./vol. it is stronger than many lagers in the North American market. Compared to mainstream lagers, it is a more full-bodied and less gaseous edition of the lager style. We think it’s delicious - we hope you do too.

Food Pairing
This pale golden lager pairs very well with fish, chicken, burgers and salads. A good choice to take along to a summer barbecue or a camping adventure.

Our Can
Lined to prevent any metallic contamination and designed to be durable and stackable, our can is made from #2 HDPE recyclable materials, a great alternative for the environment. The can toppers themselves have also been especially created with the safety of the local wildlife in mind.

355 ml can at The Only Cafe. Pours a clear golden colour with average white head. Aroma is fruity, biscuity and light grassy hops. Flavour quite fruity with grains, caramel and light grassiness. Average body. Pleasant.

A solid little canned session brew. This is awesome for a long weekend or to take to a party with none craft brew friends. Mild toasted malts, hints of grassy spiced hops and a hint of mild caramel malt. Very well balanced and nice crisp flavour.

355ml can pours a golden amber color with a finger of white head that settles quite quickly and leaves virtually no lacing on the glass. Aroma is caramel and grass. Taste is a grassy hop bitterness with a light caramel malty sweetness. Light to medium body with average carbonation for the style. Not quite as grassy as a typical macro lager. This is one of the better lagers out there.

Can @ Only Cafe poured a semi hazy gold, worryingly stable dense white head. Aroma of sweet field grass and prickle of yeasty lager edge. Taste seems to be flawed with evident peanut and/or dried peas DMS. Yet has pale fruit, bready pale malt/caramel sweetness and some grainy flavors, grassy hop palate and sweet-dry finish. Firmly mediocre and boring whatever style you call it.

Sample at bier craft in Vancouver. Not my favourites style. Might be the noble hops. Would do in a pinch ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Lagerboys rejoice! Finally a BC craft brewed Dort! Brilliant idea! Clear and golden with a big white head that fades quickly. Aroma is hopped spices and biscuit malt, as is the taste, with some caramel sweetness. Nicely balanced, and refreshing, light bitter finish

Can 355 ml
Aroma: malty, average in crispness, slight fruity elements, caramel hints. 4+
Appearance: amber with initial plus sized top that quickly vanished to light fizz. No lace.
Body , Flavour , Palate and Final Notes: medium light bodied. Caramel sweet malt with slight leafy hops on side. Dry , thinner top end. Slightly mineral ending. Finish closest resembles Dortmunder style yet front and top is too fruity. Malt work is also slightly off the traditional mark. I remember Dortmunders to have big higher carbonation as well. This one was fairly flat. Refreshing overall, not exactly Dortmunder.
