3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 fiulijn (12179) - Malmö, DENMARK - APR 8, 2011
UPDATED: JAN 1, 2013 2013-01-01, draught at Manchester Public Eatery, Vancouver, 6-5-6-3-12=32 Beautiful copper color; medium sized head. Quite strong aroma of cinnamon. The body is well structured, the flavor is sweetish, with moderate spicy touch (good blend, one spice doesn’t overwhelm the others); there is some roastiness, and a light vegetables touch; just a bit too bitter for this kind of beer.
2011-04-08, bottle from Central City Liquor Store, 7-5-6-3-14=35 Hazy amber color; compact head. The aroma is spicy as expected, this one portrays mostly the nutmeg, but there is also some cinnamon of course. The body is medium-round, there is some malt flavor with some residual sweetness, mild spices; correct bitterness. Not bad, and it avoids the common flaws of other pumpkin/spice beers.

Sampled at an esbls tasting. Leaves bubbles on the glass. Mostly clear with some head. Nice pumpkin flavor has a nice pumpkin pie flavor. I like that in this style. Tasty.

Bottled. A hazy red beer with notes of lazing beige head. The aroma has notes of malt, caramel, spices, and pumpkin. The flavor is malt, caramel, fruit, pumpkin, and spices, leading to a dry spicy finish. Thanks fiulijn for sharing.

Gingerbread! Lots of cinnamon, nutmeg, brown sugar, caramel and some apples in the aroma. Hazy amber brown body is tipped by a low off white, fine bubbled head that recedes to a partial cover with some lacing. Flavour is quite sweet up front with pie spices strong in the aftertaste. Although it is really sweet, there’s enough going on with the hops and spices to keep it from becoming cloying. Medium body with moderate carbonation. Rather nice in body. A well-made pumpkin beer, perhaps better than most, but still a bit too sweet for my taste. Sampled on tap at St. Augustine’s.

Bottle [1L] shared with HogTownHarry, tupalev, jerc & mabel -- c/o j&m. Pours a deep orange-amber with a large diminishing frothy white head. Good lacing. Aroma is pumpkin and Xmas spices and not much else, which I don’t mind, I like it. Flavour of pumpkin, light spices and sweet malt. Alcohol’s well hidden. Average to medium bodied. A pretty good Pumpkin beer.

Very large bottle. Poured clear medium orange with a tall, sticky off-white head.. looked very good in the glass. The aroma picked up lots of cloves and anise with lesser cinnamon and vanilla.. pumpkin gave a little sweetness beneath, but the spices really drove the drink. The flavor was along those same lines.. sweet, sticky pumpkin meat, honey, and a pinch of molasses at the core.. cloves, anise, and nutmeg around.. the finish carried through a grainy, spicy paste.. tasty, but it needed more pumpkin. Medium-bodied, dry, and spicy on the palate, with a little spice-related sourness on the edges.. OK feel and flow.. this was a nice, but not spectacular pumpkin brew.

1 litre swingtop bottle poured a hazy orangey color with loads of white head and some generous lacing. The aroma is pumkin and cinnamon. Taste is lightly sweet with pumpkin pie and a trace of alcohol with a long bittersweet finish. Nice mouthfeel provided by adequate carbonation and body. A nice fall seasonal ale, great for Halloween evening.
