On tap. Mahogany with a quick fading tan head. Grains, slightly roasted malts, some nuts, molasses. Very strong malt presence on the palate, average carbonation, decent body, bittersweet, slightly stale caramel finish with a bit of a macro lager ending which is unfortunate, overwhelms the nice dryness and nutty malts.

En fût à The Alibi Room à Vancouver. Couleur brune foncé, mousse beige. Arôme de malt, café, chocolat et herbes. En bouche, houblon, café au lait. Finale en chocolat, noix, cappuccino. Excellente.

Strong aroma is malty with a woody note and a substrate of molasses. It pours a dark, barely transparent brown with a fairly thick but not persistent light tan head that still leaves some good lacing. Malty flavor has a firm woody note and a hint of molasses. Texture is rather fizzy and just a bit on the thin side. Now if only they sold it in quantities other than a whole blooming liter--

1 litre swingtop bottle poured a medium brown color with a beige head and thin lacing. Aroma of roasted malts and nuts. Taste is caramel malts and some chocolate and coffee followed by a dry hoppy finish. A decent nut brown ale.

This has been around a while. Enjoyed on tap at the brewpub. Brown coloured body, lacey. The aroma is nutty and rootbeerish. Licorice taste. Average mouthfeel, suitably carbonated. Decent drinkability.

14oz glass at Local. Typical brown colour with amber tones. Small layer of tan foam on top. Big malty nose, brown sugar caramel and chocolate. Flavor is chocolatey, some grains. Dryish finish. Soft mouthfeel with light carbonation. Decent.

Dark brown pour with off-brown head. Aroma is very much hazelnuts and cocoa. Taste is chocolatey but very dry; a touch too much for me to rate this higher.

Capped 1L swingtop from Ledger’s. Pours pretty dark brown with a foamy tan head. Aroma is rather nuts and cocoa. Med body. Flavor is nuts and threads of cocoa. Finishes with a touch of brown sugar, but it’s a little astringent and fairly dry. Nice flavor, mod. ABV, it’s a session beer.

Pop top from Chuck’s. Picked this one up after the Howe Sound tasting at Chuck’s. Best one I tried there despite the three imperial ales presented. Smells like roasted nuts tastes faintly of caramel. Nothing too overpowering and completely session-able beer. They also have cool bottles which scores some points as well.
