COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A high gravity India Pale Ale brewed with 100% barley, six varieties of hops, water and yeast. Extra barley malt nicely balances the huge volume of hops in this brew. Produced as part of the John Mitchell Series. Turn around bright eyes! 17 Plato.

1L swingtop. Hazy pale golden pour. Thick white head. The aroma is sort of herbal. Light malt sweetness with a kiss of faint hoppiness. A little bit of peppery alcohol. Itís sticky but there isnít nearly enough hop flavour or bitterness to get this into DIPA territory - meh, really poor. The malt is appropriate and there arenít any real brewing flaws but thereís a whole lot more hoppiness required.

750mL flip-top at Campdown Brewdown. Hazy red to orange pour with yellow foam. Cheesy and dusty nose. Taste is heavy tea and tannic dust/sawdust. Sticky candies. Old, stale, sticky DIPA.

Bottle. Pours reddish amber with off white head. Nose and taste of resin, grapefruit, burnt toast and grain. A touch harsh in the bitterness in finish. Medium body.

2012-08-18. Dark orange body with a small beige head. 3+ Hoppy aroma, muted muddled citrus, leafy hops. Flavour is similar, modest citrusy hops and leafy green hop character. 7+ Average palate. Okay, I assume the hops are a little more robust when consumed closer to home. Bottle, Campground Brewdown 2012 our bottle, LCBO private order

My Bottom Line:
Biscuity pale malts also deliver honeyed sweetness while citrusy hops try to shine in this balanced Double IPA.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A sheet of foam covers the misty honeyed golden.
-The aroma is a tad deficient for a Double IPA, but the flavor profile fulfills the hoppy promise.
-The mouthfeel is cuddly; not too lean, not too round.
-Worty allusions show up in the aroma at times.
-This is not nearly as intense as your average West Coast Imperial IPA, but it is very tasty and well put together.

On tap at Alibi Room.

Bottle. Amber beer with a cream head. Malt and light grapefruit aroma. Grapefruit and light pine flavor with caramel. Medium bodied. Good bitterness. Grapefruit and pine lingers with caramel.

1 liter swing top bottle pours with a clear deep copper body that supports a full tan head of foam. The aroma offers up pine hops, some cherry and raisins like dark fruity esters and then it gets into resiny bitter hops mixed with some grapefruit like citrus hoppiness. The taste delivers a mix of bitter pine hops, some dark fruity esters, some malts and then biscuit malts. To midway it picks up some pleasing citrus hops and then it heads into a mix of resiny pine hops, resiny bitter citrus and various modest malty notes. This is a little estery for the style but still enjoyable as the hops are thick and balanced.

Enormous swing top bottle, shared with Parksy (our second go at this brew, actually). Starts off right: beautiful hazy dark orange with a lively golden head that retains well. Aroma is quite sweet and hoppy, peachy and slightly piney. Flavour is a bit of a conundrum: fruity and a little piney, but with an odd dirty quality to it. Not really earthy or funky, but just not as crisp and biting as I like. It became a little cloying after a while, but still a worthwhile brew.

Bottle thanks to Lizzie. Pours a hazy sappy amber with particals a yellowish brown head that lasts and laces. Aroma has a good amount of pine hop with resin with a strong backing sweet grain. Flavor has pine hops with resin and sweet grains.

Had this at the Campground Brewdown. Pours a mostly clear amber to ruby color with a thin to medium bodied white head. Sweet malt and toast, light hops. Malt, earthy sweet and lightly oxidized. Malt, toast, dark fruit. Earthy malt, sweet into earthiness, pungent bitterness.
