3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Pours dark brown/red with white lacing. Aroma of dark fruits, candied sugars, toffee, molasses, and some nuts. Flavour the same, some booze, light citrus bitterness. Thinner than expected. Some nice flavours. Not bad.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
courtesy of fiulijn; 2010 vintage - cloudy brown beer with no head retention; strong aroma of bread, toffe and alcohol; some overmatured fruits too; full-bodied yet not too thick; some bitterness and a long malty finish with notes of molasses, caramel and cheese with warming alcohol notes as well - decently complex and very enjoyable

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Paid $5 from cold beer and wine. Off the pour this beer heads up almost like caramel mixed in with the tan foam. It has a nice murky red coloring to it. It has a very mild aroma to it with a touch of very ripe, or cooked banana. Not boozy just very smooth. The flavor is lightly sweet with present hops, but not overpowering at all. The taste overall is very very mild. It has a medium thick body that clears the palate fairly quickly and is rather flat as it should be.
Overall this barley wine is very smooth, and very mild in every sense, but enjoyable and a good value.

2.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 11/20
Dark brown pour with a red tinge and a thick tan head. Nose is baked banana bread, roasted almonds, brown sugar - sweet and pleasant. The body is a lot lighter than expected with a slick mouth feel. Taste is predominantly sweet malt with dried fruits and a bitter-sweet, boozy finish. I found this beer lacking in body and complexity. Disappointing.

2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Draught, Alibi Room. Reddish-amber. Thin head. The aroma is mostly diacetyl, actually. The palate is sweet, bland and light caramel and still some diacetyl. In a fresh barley wine...are you serious?

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
(341ml bottle) Purchased at Liquor Plus Douglas in Victoria for $5.99. Pours a lightly frothy almond colored head atop a deep reddish body. Nose is nicely smoked with toffee and cantaloup in the rear. Very warm and inviting - not to mention how well the alcohol is hidden. Fruity: figs, bruised peaches and melon lead with smooth vanilla and diluted bourbon chaser. Very impressive and nice size format, I’ve finding it difficult to stomach a barleywine bomber so this 12oz is perfect.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottled, thanks fiulijn! Cloudy reddish brown, no head. FLoral hops over mature caramel. Mid sweet with full body where cushiony caramelly malt provides depth and a soft, yet firm foundation for grapefruity floral hops to build on. Long, really bitter finish. Relaxed and pleasant. A big, nicely balanced warming barley wine.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle courtesy of and shared with omhper who got it from fiulijn (thanks guys!). Dark mist amber body. No head. Perfumey orange-jaffa cakes malty nose, not overbearing, not a trace of alcohol. Slightly soapy orangey hoppy notes dominate, light bitterness. Slighty warming, but not cloying at all, a huge plus. Really drinkable, nice!

Bottle ? ml
Aroma: great malt depth , hefty smooth with refined alcohol. Nice hint of smooth bittering hop. 8-
Appearance: neat shade of deep dark amber. Good light goes through. Medium white top
Palate / Taste: Full bodied. Plenty of malts, very proper, clean barley wine. Very nice surprise here. Old school, big balanced malty character. Barley wine that is not wants to be double Imperial pale ale. Solid offering. Highly recommended.
