[Bottle (375ml)] Pours a murky dark orange-copper with an average size lasting frothy tan head. Aroma of dark fruit, caramel malt, brown sugar, a good amount of hops and alcohol. Nice fruity and hoppy flavour, sweet and malty, along with alcohol, toffee and a long-ish moderate bitter finish. Medium to full bodied. Pretty good.

Nose of dark fruit toffee caramel brown sugar herbal aged hop notes. Auburn copper pour great head lace and legs. Nice looking beer. Flavors of dark fruit toffee brown sugar herbal notes a touch pf brine tang alcohol but smooth and warming. Lingering residual sugar. Really solid beer.

UPDATED: JAN 12, 2012 On tap at St. Augustine’s, pours magohony with a small ring of head. Aroma of brown sugar, caramel and considerably more hops than malt. Flavour is quite sweet, with brown sugar, caramel and a lingering hop kick along with sweetness. Very lightly carbonated and soft palate. Alcohol is barely noticeable. Glad I got to try this limited release, but it’s a pretty middle-of-the-road barley wine.

Toffee and caramel combine with a pleasing nutty character in the nose. some dark pit fruits and light alcohol are also apparent. clear mahogany-brown body is topped by a decent off-white head that stands well and leaves some lace. the sweetness of the toffee and caramel are offset by some pleasant roast malt notes and the nuttiness lingers in the aftertaste. Perhaps not as full bodied as I’d expect considering the sweetness and stronger carbonation might have elevated the flavour a bit. Tulip glass. Cellar temperature. Bottle purchased (?) at Toby’s in (?) December 2012.

Bottle: Poured a deep cloudy copper color ale with a rather large foamy head with good retention and some good lacing. Aroma of dry caramelized sugars with light grainy cereal notes. Taste is dominated by load of dry caramelized residual sugars notes with some grainy cereal notes. Body is quite full with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Interesting take on the English-style barleywine but sadly feels a bit short on the complexity front.

(341ml bottle) Purchased at Liquor Plus Douglas in Victoria for $5.99. Pours a lightly frothy almond colored head atop a deep reddish body. Nose is nicely smoked with toffee and cantaloup in the rear. Very warm and inviting - not to mention how well the alcohol is hidden. Fruity: figs, bruised peaches and melon lead with smooth vanilla and diluted bourbon chaser. Very impressive and nice size format, I’ve finding it difficult to stomach a barleywine bomber so this 12oz is perfect. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPod; and powered by RateBeer.com, the world’s largest and most accurate beer database.

19/I/13 - 33cl bottle @ RBBWG 2013 - bottled or BB (?): XII/2011 (2013-57) Thanks to BelgBeerGeek for sharing the bottle!

Little cloudy dark amber beer, small aery off-white head, unstable. aroma: sweet malts, sugary, it’s a barley wine all right, vanilla, milk chocolate. MF: ok carbon, medium to full body. Taste: chocolate, sweet malts, mocha, caramel, dry hoppy touch, grapes or red wine or something as well. Aftertaste: caramel, vanilla, some cocoa powder, chocolate, bit sugary. Very decent beer!

375ml bottle pours a deep amber color with quite a generous head (about a finger and a half) for a the style, leaving some spotty lacing on the glass. Aroma is grains with some grapefruit and herbs. Taste is a grapefruit and herbal bitterness with a bold malty sweetness. Medium bodied with mild carbonation. Definitely, fits the style and is quite tasty and recommended.

Bottle courtesy of and shared with omhper who got it from fiulijn (thanks guys!). Dark mist amber body. No head. Perfumey orange-jaffa cakes malty nose, not overbearing, not a trace of alcohol. Slightly soapy orangey hoppy notes dominate, light bitterness. Slighty warming, but not cloying at all, a huge plus. Really drinkable, nice!
