Cask at the Cock Tavern E8. Reddish brown in colour. Iím a big fan of these hoppy red ales, and Howling Hops have smashed it with their versions. Luscious juicy fruit from the hops, berries with a hint of sweetness, cream, a bit of snap, long bitter finish. Splendid.

Cask at Hop Inn, Newcastle under Lyme. Pours red brown with an off white head. Autumnal fruit, resinous hop, booze led finish. Little spice.

330ml bottle from Beer Merchants. Pours hazy brown with good white head. Good amber with a bready, chewy, fruity malt character with leafy caramel. Alright.

Bottle. Cotteridge Wines, Birmingham. 5.2%. Hazy red. Big, bubbly, sticky, off white, lasting head. Lovely sticky hop to this. Jammy, and fruity. Smells very fresh and lively. Bit of a light, oily herb thing going on. Taste sets off juicy bitter, with a fruity sweetness building and lingering. Smooth mouthfeel, although thereís plenty of fizz, which could be a good thing, given that sweetness. Finishes fruity, soft bitter. Touch dry on the close.

Keg at The Font, Manchester. Dark amber shade. Chunky head and lacing. Notes of red fruits, leafy hops, earth, tangerine and some coffee flavour too. Medium hop bitterness or just below. The earthy coffee notes are odd and spoil this a bit. Shame because it seems well joined up.

33ml bottle from Kris Wines, London. Itís got that chewy, messy, tropical fruit London thing going on. Dark amber appearance. Caramel, orange peel, biscuits, pretty good.

At the Tankroom. Ruby red is a clear Amber red with a fresh hoppy aroma with breadiness. The taste is somewhat sweetly malty with a satisfying mouthfeel and lovely complex interplay of hop flavorful fruits. Good stuff.

Warm hoppy aromas and a lovely deep reddish auburn colour. Slightly smokey undertones. Really quite drinkable. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Cask conditioned at The Cock Tavern. Toffee and caramel aroma with diacetyl notes (increasing as time pass). Yeast and hop flavors without malt presence. A little bit plain, perhaps not in itís better day.

Cask at The Cock Tavern in Hackney. Pretty dark in colour rather than ruby. Smooth palate, sweet malt with hints of caramel, nuts and smoke. Nice beer.
