2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Light copper with frothy, rocky cap. Smells of sour lint with a touch of fruit. Taste is mildly malty straw with the dry finish being the best part of the beer.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Golden, mushroomy aroma, fuggley? (not getting any modern hops here). Soft. Earthy moderate bitterness. Mid-90s IPA. Balanced, light biscuity and a touch caramelly.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours dark amber with a frothy head. Aroma of mango, citrus, pine. Taste is mango sweet, then tart then malty sickish. The finish does not appeal.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a pretty hazy amber with some noticeable hop sediment in suspension, an average sized white head and a decent amount of lace up the glass. Aroma is sweet citrus, tropical fruit, floral and a mild malty backbone. Flavour is grapefruit mixed with sweet citrus, medium-high bitterness, floral, mild fruity esters, some grainy backbone to give a bit of balance and finishes dry.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours an almost clear copper with an orange hue and a small white head that leaves good lacing. Aroma of grapefruit, passionfruit, tropical fruits, sweet mango and a bit of sweet caramel pale malts. Taste is caramel, bitter grapefruit hops up front with some mango and passionfruit in the background. Bitterness lasts into the finish and is a bit harsh and astringent. Overall a nice easy drinking ipa.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Slightly hazy golden amber. Light smells of sappy hops. Mild bitter taste with the hops up front. Slow mellow but still leaves a bit of a hop stain.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Tap, brewery. Pours a clear gold body with a moderate frothy white head. The nose has some nice citrusy hops, but there’s a bit too much sweetness under them for my tastes. The flavor is a little too sweet for me as well, really heavy caramel maltiness dulls the hops too much. It really tastes like there’s crystal malt in here, but no mention of it in the commercial description. Medium bodied with a sticky clinginess and soft fizzy carbonation. No real flaws here I suppose, but it just doesn’t play to my tastes.

3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
New from Victoria. Aroma of grapefruit, pine and orange peel. Pours a deep gold color, smaller head but good lacing. Malt forward. Some grapefruit bitterness pushes through. Finish is hop bitterness. Aftertaste of lemon cough drops. Not a bad IPA, could use a little more balance to take the edge off the bitterness.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
In front of a fire at Castle Mountain - the liquor ban is on, there are two massive racked elk across the road hunkered down in the bushes and its pitch black. Word of wolf sightings is better than the grizzly that was wandering the campground in jasper last weekend. The Mosquitos have drained away most of my blood so a 650ml IPA should sink in quickly and send me face first into the hot coals. Hard to tellthecolout of this beer so be there is no light but flames and the glo of this hand held mini computer and that the brew is poured into a tiny red plastic kids cup. Grapefruit, sweet citrus, faint melon and floral notes, berries, ripe red plum skin, grass and my singeing eyebrows from the metal melting heat from the fire that I am less than a foot away from. It smells powerful - an IPA that is ready to fuck up my rapeable taste buds. This is a powerful, bitter, somewhat complex IPA that if dropped back quickly would ruin my palate for whatever is next - probably that freeze dried Neapolitan ice cream that I’ve been holding out on. There is some not-so-sweet caramel hanging around as a base that is constantly fending off being dissolved by the onslaught of bitterness. Sharp citrus that makes me only think of a bright white colour, lemon, hard bitterness, light sweetness at best, drying grass, unsweetened grapefruit, honeydew melon, orange, leafy greenness. Finishes hard and tasty but more on the hard side. I think this is really good but its hard to tell. What isn’t hard to tell is the sound of someone playing Yahtzee one site over - how many fucking times does one have to shake those dice??
