General_Gao (2368), Iowa City, Iowa, USA Apr 26, 2008 12oz bottle purchased at John’s Grocery in Iowa City. Poured a clear golden-yellow color. Almost neon. Head was bubbly, white, and reduced over a minute or so to a thin film. Some chalky-looking lace clung to the side of the glass. Aroma was of biscuity malt, corn, and light grassy hops. There was also a whiff of honey. Light bodied and delicately sweet with a pleasant honey-touched cereal grain flavor. Simple, but refreshing.
masonjer (394), Lansing, Michigan, USA Jul 14, 2008 Thanks to pepsican for the bottle. Poured a light golden color. Aroma was of dough and light hops. Taste is much the same, very light on flavor, little bitterness, some corn. Don’t think I finished this one. kramer17801 (1846), sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 12, 2008 12 oz bottle. Poured a clear light gold at first, then came a good amount of medium sized chunkies at the end of the bottle. Fizz bright white head actually had pretty decent retention. The nose is light hops and bready pale malt with a touch of citrus. The flavor is lightly citrusy and peppery with a doughy malt base. Some light bittering hops on the finish. Light bodied with fizzy active carbonation. OK, but not anything worth seeking out. CanIHave4Beers (147), Des Moines, Iowa, USA Jun 30, 2008 Well. It is golden. it seems to be very much in the english tradition of golden ale. The color is golden and pours a nice head that fairly quickly diminshes. The aroma is of dry malt and a little hops. Taste is sweet, a little corny for my liking, with some nice hop flavors. This is refreshing on a summer day. durhambeer (323), Durham, North Carolina, USA Jun 28, 2008 Bottle from the kind generosity of pepsican. This was a bit of a surprise... a bit closer to a Belgian golden than I thought it would be, though certainly not quite there. This beer seems to have a bit of an identity crisis. For the aroma, go to your pantry, find some Del Monte canned sweet corn, and open it up. Stick your nose in it. Besides a hint of yeast in the beer, sweet corn is exactly what this beer smells like. It’s not entirely unpleasant, but damn, I can’t shake it. Just keep thinking sweet corn. Start to think there’s a bit of lemon or spice--and then the sweet corn hits again. Did I mention this beer tastes and smells like sweet corn? It does. Seriously. p.s.................................... sweet corn. decaturstevo (1134), decatur, Tennessee, USA Jun 8, 2008 Pretty decent aroma that hints of corn and light spice. Clean clear golden pour. Flavor is corn and a hint of light maltiness. Agressive carbonation for me. Not bad but really not much I could drink it but I would not buy it.
