Our oatmeal stout is so named for the 10% oat content of the grist. As you taste this beer you will find coffee and dark chocolate as the dominating flavors with a slightly sweet finish.

12oz bottle. Though there was an initial rusty beige head, it quickly fades out, leaving some oily traces. Another undercarbonated beer from Hub City. Bottling line problem or stylistic decision? Presumably the former. Fairly enjoyable Stout, takes on some mellow UK-style nuances with soft, almost still body. Chocolate milk aroma. Pleasant chocolate malty tones, with a respectable countering bitterness. All the makings of a great session Stout, just misses the mark with the conditioning.

Good balance of a smoky chocolate aroma. Nice brown, but short-lived, head. Beer seemed a bit flat. Taste was pretty typical of a stout, but this is no Guinness.

Pours brownish black with off white head, aroma is roasted malt with some chocolate and bitter coffee. Taste is rather plain stout, with some coffee and chocolate taste up front leading into a roasted and dry finish. Pretty thin for an oatmeal stout, but not bad.

Pours jet black. Lots of chocolate in the aroma. Taste is heavy roasted malt, coffee, chocolate and nuts. Medium to heavy body. Not as creamy as the typical oatmeal stout. Good overall taste profile though. I like it.

In the bottle from HyVee CB. Pours black with a beige head. Really nice roasted aroma. Intense coffee flavors and burnt malt dominate. Not too much smoothness from the oatmeal as far as palate goes. This has a bit of a mild sourness to the finish.

(12oz bottle, courtesy of jkwalking05) Pours a dark brown body with a small beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, and light coffee. Flavor of roasted malt, lactose, cocoa, coffee, and some oatmeal.

Bottle: One finger of a rich, dark brown oatmeal stout and about six fingers of a massive, creamy brown head... I guess that’s what I get for being a little too cavalier with the pour. Rich aroma is full of coffee, roast, and dark chocolate. Tastes of coffee and roast, but gets a little watery. Some bittersweetness and roast tries to linger through the tail, but again it sort of falls apart. High hopes after the aroma... comes up a little short.

( 12oz bottle thanks to jkwalking05) Pours dark brown. Nose of cocoa and dark chocolate. Taste is watery dark chocolate and the body is very thin as well.
