A - 1 finger of mocha brown head that dissipates into a few wisps. The darkest brown before you get black.
S - Cocoa pebbles cereal, coffee, roasted malt.
T - Rich chocolate along roasted malt, coffee, and vanilla wood. Hints citronella comes through right before the bitterness towards the finish. The bitterness works on the end.
M - Creamy body with low carbonation.
A great all around oatmeal stout. Nice flavors and very enjoyable. I would love to try this on tap.

I got a pre-made sampler pack of this from Woodman’s in Janesville, WI before the brewery subsequently went out of business.
Pours a very dark brown/black color with a very faint head. Scent is bold with roasted malts, coffee, and sweet caramel malts. The taste has all the stout elements such as a heavy roast malt flavor with coffee, toffee, vanilla and caramel hints. However the texture falls short as this brew does drink rather watery. Some slight coffee after tastes but otherwise not much. Has a great platform for an oatmeal stout, but could use some work….well it could have used some work I guess.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 mintzmeet (56) - Seattle, Washington, USA - AUG 22, 2012
Smokey charcoal aroma. Deep smokey flavor almost like ham or bacon in flavor and a lil saltiness. Toffee, chocolate, and charcoal all in the flavor.

Originally reviewed: 5/25/09. Pours a thick deep black with a massive foamy tan head on top. Great retention and tons of sticky lacing all over the glass. Smells of oats, coffee, cocoa, and a hint of wood.
Mouthfeel is a little thin. I was expecting a little more chew since it poured so thick. Flavor is acrid and roasted all over. Burnt almonds and sour bread dipped in coffee is what I taste. It sort of tastes like stale cigarettes the more I sip this. Hmmm. I just knocked it down a bit on the point scale. I can’t drink much more of this. Too bad. I was expecting better things...

Bottle via the construction gods. Yeah its a long story but buy me a beer sometime and maybe I’ll tell yah. So on with the rating notes verbatim. "YUM!" Light touch of coffee tinged roastiness. This is supported by a cocoa-licious and milk chocolate slick body. Oats contribute to the luxurious head. Even smoother and more lucious as it warms.

Shared 12 oz. bottle at a recent geek tasting. Poured to a sampler with a black/brown color, modest, brownish tan head foam, and wavey cling to the lacing. The aroma was roasted malt, with notes of coffee, baker’s chocolate, and light molasses sweetness. The flavor added some moderate hop bitterness and a little creaminess to the mouthfeel, but fell off dramatically in intensity compared to the nose.

Active sucker is 10pm black with a quickly fading tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, peat, anise and light coffee. Taste of dark over-roasted malts, coffee and light oatmeal. Chewy, chalky and astringent.
