2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle thanks to pepsican. Dark brown pour with thin and short-lived light tan head. Sweet roasty nose with some chocolate but also some notes of burnt plastic. Taste has pleasant roasty notes but more plastic weirdness and some sweet cola notes. Hints at some good stuff but falls flat.

3.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
The aroma is faint but pleasant. Scents of chocolate very toasty malt, and light hops. The color is a deep brown, without much head to speak of even after a vigorous pour, however the head that is there does hang out on the top. The taste is very good. Flavors are toasted malt, a little bit of rye bread, and some nice hop bitterness. The beer is nice on the tongue, it has a sharpness at the front, with a smooth finish.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
12 oz bottle. Pours a slightly cloudy dark brown body with a very fizzy light brown head that faded to a thin ring quickly. Nice chocolate malt nose with a good bit of cocoa powder, coffee and roast. Some cola and light hoppiness. The flavor is a bit watery with a nutty and chocolate malt graininess. Just a light bitterness on the tail end. This really walks the line between a Brown Ale and a Porter, there’s just a little bit of roastiness missing to make it a true Porter. Lighter bodied with a watery texture and moderate fizzy carbonation. Overall, this is well suited as a quick drinker to be consumed in big gulps, but not much in the way of complexity.

A dark brown to black appearance with almost no head. The aroma contains some caramel, chocolate, and nutmeg. The flavor is somewhat bitter with some chocolate, coffee, and a nutty presence to it. Overall this was a nice beer.

Big malty aroma, some roast.
Strong roast flavor, some caramel, coffee, and chocolate. Very lightly sweet.
Lightly thick, very creamy.
Very drinkable and flavorful.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Darkest brown ale Iíve ever seen. Thick beige head, very much stout like in appearance. Thick mouthful, nice roasted malt, quite robust. Strong espresso, coffee aroma. Flavor is very smooth, nicely roasted malt, hint of coffee... with a touch of chocolate. Very nice. Quite stout-like.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: MAY 23, 2008 12oz bottle purchased at Johnís Grocery in Iowa City. Poured a nearly opaque brownish black color with minimal orange light sneaking through along the edges. The head was thick and light brown. It reduced after a minute or so to a thin lasting film. Some lace was left behind at the end. Smelled of milk chocolate, subdued molasses, and a dash of brown sugar. Medium bodied and delicately sweet with a distinct roasty, almost smoky, malt flavor accented by chocolate and nuts. Pretty good.

UPDATED: JUL 28, 2010 Pours dark brown, almost black with a small tan head. Aroma is toffee, coffee, chocolate. I have bubble gum in my flavor notes as well, odd. Coffee, chocolate, dark cherry, nuts. Smooth and slightly creamy, low carbonation. On the sweet side. Big thanks to joe for hooking me up with all three of these!
I wouldnít bother with these guys anymore, too much infections issues.
