Hub City Olde Browne Porter

bottle from pepsican...this is the best of the hub city’s that I had...i really liked this. dark brown pour with fluffy tan head. aromas that hit right off the bat are coffee, chocolate, molasses, cane syrup and some chewy beef jerky. Flavor is a hair sweet with coffee, chcoalte and some good roastiness.

12 oz bottle courtesy of pepsican. Pours dark brown in color with a small dirty beige head that disappears. The aroma was molasses, chocolate, dark fruits, and a little smoke. The flavor is similar to the nose without the molasses. This was more roasted than the nose would indicate. I still get some chocolate, dark fruits, and light smoke. Light medium in body, low carbonation, and mostly enjoyable.

Poured opaque dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma was of dark chocolate and a hint of smoke. Taste was much the same, some nuttiness, but I kept picking up this odd plastic taste in the finish. The beer was otherwise quite good, but couldn’t get past that part of it.

12 oz bottle from John’s Grocery. Poured a dark brown with a lighter look to it. A lot of carbonation for a porter, pretty bubbly. Very small dark tan head that faded quickly and leaves minimal lacing. The aroma was faintly of nut, chocolate, coffee, and roasty malt. The flavor was initially sweet and nutty, malty in the middle, and a very light bitter ending with a chocolate and roasty aftertaste. Very light bodied, slightly carbonated feel, creamy and smooth. It leaves a real mellow aftertaste. Overall it tastes better than it looks, but its nothing out of the ordinary. Kind of watery and a little too light for my liking.

Poured brown, thin tan head. Flavor is strong roasts, chocolate, cola, nuttiness. I liked it!!
