scraff (1703), Baltimore, Maryland, USA May 3, 2008 12oz bottle, courtesy of General Gao. Hazed gold, creamy white head. Vanilla and ripe banana aromas warm to bready lemony spice notes. Up front sweet banana wheat bread and lemon vanilla flavors round with a touch of clove. Light bodied and thin, soft carbonation, fruity finish. Nothing special here...
EithCubes (1854), Indiana, USA Oct 17, 2008 Bottle from dchmela - thanks! Creamy lemon and nice murky wheat malt, tumbling banana yeast. Noisy golden-bronze pour, hazy with a beige head. Taste features all of the above but "breadens" out a bit. Light-bodied and a little flat. Dulled flavors, but I’d have no problem drinking a few pints - there’s a sort of relaxing wheat beer here and certainly nothing wrong. DrnkMcDermott (1596), Downers Grove, Illinois, USA Sep 28, 2008 Updated: Sep 29, 200812 oz. bottle. Nice opening smell, though a little high on orange juice, with followup notes of coriander. Much more than you’d find in a non-Weizen wheat. Brownish orange color with a head that simply fizzes away. Previous rater pegged melon, and I agree, under citrus, apple juice and warm ferment spiciness. Banana esters start to show up halfway down the glass, along with a tang of dead yeast. It’s okay, just kind of on the level of a decent homebrew. They just might get better. LilBeerDoctor (730), East Setauket, New York, USA Aug 24, 2008 Bottle courtesy of pepsican. Pours a cloudy dull orange with no head. Aroma of wheat, yeast, and clove. Flavor predominantly wheat/bread and citrus, also some melon and other light fruity notes, bubblegum. Some metallic notes. Lively carbonation, very spritzy mouthfeel. Palate is a bit watery. Not bad, probably my #3 of the Hub Citys so far. fredandboboflo (715), East Setauket, New York, USA Aug 24, 2008 Bottle. Aroma of mustard seed, citrus, must. Flavor odd with some citrus and plastic. Watery palate. Kind of a mess, but fortunately not too offensive. pineypower (924), Pine Barrens, New Jersey, USA Aug 24, 2008 Thanks to Pepsican. Pour out a light amber with a small white head. Aroma is of some wheat, and citrus. Taste is a bit watery, some citrus, some hoppiness and slight fruit going on in there also. Interesting wheat and rather drinkable.
