12 ounce bottle. Served in a pint glass, the beer pours a mostly clear dark brown/reddish color with about a half inch light tan head. The head didn’t stay around for too long, and there isn’t much lacing. The brew smells like roasted/caramel malt, nuts, and a bit of chocolate. Taste is the same as the aroma, it tastes like roasted and caramel malt, nuts, and some chocolate. Mouthfeel/body is light/medium, it’s a bit slick, and it’s smooth and easy to drink. To me it seems more like a brown ale than a porter. Overall, it’s not a bad brew, just decent. Can’t complain since I bought only a single of this. Worth a try!

Bottle: Pours dark with a small tan head. Super roasty aromas, chocolately. This is a delicious drink... nice and roasty. Some coffee and chocolate.

Clear dark amber with a light tan head and swirls of lace. Taste is an easy-drinking caramel malt with edgy carbonation. This is a good, common, outdoor BBQ beer, or maybe for hot dogs and potato salad. Much more than the nat’l brands, but nowhere near the good crafy brewers. It is successful in what it intends to be.

Bottle. Nutty roasted malt aroma. Deep chestnut with a moderate beige head. Nutty caramel malt flavor with a roasty finish. Light body, moderate carbonation. Reminds more of a nice brown ale than a porter.

Bottle. Poured reddish brown color with an average frothy brown head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate roasted sweet malt aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium sweet chocolate flavor with medium sweet finish of moderate duration. Soft complex beer.

Pours deep, clear ruby-brown with a large, whipped tan head.
Caramel and chocolate aroma.
Taste is strong, sweet malt, light chocolate.
Some fruitiness...almost a pear note.
Very light, but a really nice taste and feel.

Pint on tap at Mayberry gastropub. clear reddish brown color. Very light compared to how your typical American craft porter looks. Thin off-white greyish head, nice chocolate nose. Lighter body. Smooth lighter carbonation, dry texture. Sort of toasty. Nice light bitter taste. A macro-tasting porter, light and watery. But that light chocolate note is pretty pleasant

Bottle to pint. Looks solid; a transparent brown with light beige head that quickly dissipates into lacing. Smells and tastes semi-sweet and malty. Average on the palate. It exceeded my expectations.

It’s a dark brown, darn good porter served to me at the opening of the new Christian Moerlein brewery opening on Moore Street in the Cincinnati Over-The-Rhine neighborhood.
