I really like this beer, I live in central IL and cannot get it localy. I found it on an annual labor day weekend trip to Paducah, KY last year (2013) so this year I bought a case of it to bring back with me.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Hudepohl Amber Lager has a thin, slightly off-white head, a mostly clear, red-amber, bubbly appearance, and a fairly heavy lacing left behind. The aroma is of slightly sweet, slightly bready, slightly yeasty, and slightly sour malt, all of which make it interesting. Taste is of those elements, with an odd flavor, that reminds me of vegetable soup that has higher-than-average tomato content. Mouthfeel is light and creamy, and Hudepohl Amber Lager finishes crisp and refreshing. RJT

2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Funky mild aroma of bread and sweet malt. Darker than expected color, light orange with a tan head. Sweet bready malt up front, some mild notes of spices. Finishes with an off sweetness, and the bitterness is metalic and uneven. Oily mouthfeel. Meh.

A fine, strongly flavored riverman’s beer, with a metallic aftertaste tat let’s you know you’ve had a beer. I drink one of these at the bar and let out a bad word to let everyone know I’m there!

2.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
This is a clear orange amber brew with a scant white head. This is a mildly sweet lager and fairly clean aside from a slight metallic note. This isn’t a complete disaster but really nothing I’m looking forward to drinking again.
