Biggish, fine off-white head, dark brown-yellow cloudy body. (Not sure about the colour; it was dark, and the light at the brewery was yellow.) Sweet, toffee-like aroma. Big sweet toffee/licorice taste, with slightly hoppy aftertaste. Complex taste. Aftertaste lingers. A very interesting beer, somewhat heavy by German standards. (0.5l mug on tap at the brewery pub.)

Draft @ brewpub. Milky opaque dark brown with stable head. The aroma is not popping, has some sourness. The palate is soft and has nice low carbonation that makes it very drinkable. The beer is very tasty, as wood fired dark bread crust.

Cloudy chestnut. Rustic nose, but in a toasty kind of way. Has some farmy complexity. Very toasty character, almost burnt. Pretty cool, actually, as an assertive take on the concept. Finishing dry and abrasively toasty.
