2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Elwood (1834) - Between a rock and a hard place, Virginia, USA - APR 29, 2010
Serving: Draft at Fireworks.
It pours a tea like color with a frothy, off white head. Poor head retention and little to no lacing left. The nose is light with notes of nuts, caramel, and slight herbal notes. The flavor is light bordering on tasteless with notes of caramel, a little earth, some herbals, and nuts. Light to medium body with medium to high, over agressive carbonation and a short finish. This one comes across almost as a palate cleasner. Not impressed. Skip it.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20 Leighton (3598) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - APR 22, 2010
Bottle. Pours a dark but clear amber-ruby-brown with a very faint, white head. Easily detected malts in the aroma, some caramel, some florals. Holds a somewhat nutty flavor, mild chocolate notes, a bit of honey. Leaves an odd sensation on the teeth, like a coating of some sort. There’s also some earthy bitterness in the finish. Overall, it’s not bad, but didn’t strike me as particularly great.

A dark brown pour with almost no head. Aroma is fruit and slightly roast malt. Flavor is dark fruits, like plum, prune, fig, with a bit of roasted malt in the background. Sweet. Could use some hops though.
