COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Affiliated with the Nectar Ales experience through shared origins at Humboldt Brewing Company, Hemp Ale is a one-of-a-kind brew that boasts an incredibly rich profile and unique herb-accented flavor that is attributable to the incorporation of hemp seeds into the brewing process. A wonderful brown ale full of complexity Hemp Ale is great with food or by itself. American hops create a perfect balance to the darker malts used in this brew. This brown ale is the Gold Medal winner for first place in its category at both the 1999 and 2000 California State Fair Craft Brewing Competitions. (Editor’s Note: originally brewed by the Humboldt Brewing Company until their acquisition by Firestone Walker)

Pours rich clear ruby brown with 1 finger of sudsy head that fades to a skin, lackluster retention. Aroma is toffee, caramel, raisins, nuts, spicy plums. Taste is toffee, raisin, sweet caramel, very mild woody/spicy hop profile. Body is medium, frothy, less than average carbontation, balanced finish that highlights malty sweetness but balances perfectly with mild hop bitterness, very mild astringency (perhaps from tannins in the hemp hulls?). Overall, a tasty beer that incorporates cannabis in one of its incarnations. Rock on, man.

Watery tasting spicy brown ale. Very simple and plain with nothing to hate and nothing to like really. Simple easy drinker but not much going on.

Simple brown ale, light dark Malts in the body, some simple darker malts in the aroma. Not much hop or hemp flavoring. It’s meh.

Lasting thin tan head, little lace. Brown hued ale. Nose is lightly malty. little buttery, astringent. Light bodied, bit o carbonation. Astringent flavors, grain, vegetal , funked, weird. Dry too long finish. Arf. Bottle from statelinliquors. Waste of a perfectly good 12 oz. bottle!

Brown pour, no way ;). Nice, light malty nose, slight hint of Earth. Flavors are fairly malt oriented with slight slight hints of dirt, Earth, and nut flavors. Sweeter ending, not much of a finish.

Pours a deep mahogany brown color with aroma of roasted nuts and burnt caramel. Taste is sweetened by the caramel and the darken malt can be tasted throughout the beer. A very tasty brown ale hat was smooth drinking.
