Pours a slightly cloudy brown color with a thin light brown head. Solid aroma of smoked malt, caramel and berries. Superb flavor of smoked malt, berries, caramel and mild bitterness in the end. There’s a rich malty character that is very pleasant. The body is medium with an oily texture and soft carbonation.

Bottle sample at a tasting at troubles’s place. Thanks Tom C. Clear reddish amber. Big smoked sausage aroma. Sweet flavor, malty, caramelly, with nuts, toast, and nice sausage-like smokiness. Rounded mouthfeel. Really good.

Aroma: light savoury bacon, caramel, dark malts, spices. Appearance: clear, dark brown, massive, frothy, beige head. Taste: light bitter. Palate: initial bitters, smoked flavours, caramel sweets coming up, yet hoppy bitters keep on dominating, light citrus, dry, bitter finish. Overall: nice Smoked Bock, great aroma, nice palate. Bottle at Hütt’n, Nürnberg.

Bottle. Thanks to KL. Light smokey nose, dark roast, and gentle chocolate. Thin dark brown color, very slick. Thin mix of smoke and mild dark fruitiness. Bittering works its way in throughout mid and final. Thin body. Pleasant, lightly smoked, with decent bittering.

Bottle from Landbierparadis. Purple-brown color with a thick head. Clear. Nose of chocolate, wood, caramel, cherries. Smoke is on the light side. flavors of chocolate, treacle, light smoke. Slightly roasty finish. A bit leafy and a bit too light in body. Decent but I was expecting more.

Smoked awesomeness. Has nice roasted malt, but the smoke takes the prices of course. Strong, yet smooth. Great beer.

Ruby red color with small head. Aroma of smoke, wood, fire, caramel, malts. Taste is light sweet, smokey and interesting. Light to medium body, slick-oily texture, soft carbonation. Nice , not to much smoke, good balance.

pours almost clear dark reddish, light nutty brown tones, with a small light beige cap, some retention and lacing. pleasant lightly smoked malts, sweet uncloying toasted and roasted malts, nuts and caramelized nuts, leafy green and grassy hops - relatively short herbal finish, creamy and almost lactose-like sweetness. nice balance. overall nice but something is slightly disturbingly off in the finish.

In short: A moderately smoky toasted lager. Very classy.
How: Bottle 500ml. Consumed soon after receiving it through private importation but probably not super-fresh.
The look: Clear redish-copper topped by a medium beige head quickly receding to a thin persistent layer of foam.
In long: Nose is moderately smoky (very much beach wood smoke fire) over some kind of fruity cereals. Body is very full but silky and not heavy, the carbonation is smooth. Taste has very expressive highly roasted straw-like cereals, dried cattail, refreshing fruitiness (berries, fruit salad), roasted wood, soft caramel, smooth smoke. Mild bitterness, smooth sweetness sensation. Dried tobacco and toffee in the after-taste. Nourishing. Easy to drink despite the style and 8.1%. However the nature of beer like this is such that one 500ml bottle is enough. Personally I find that this is another fine underrated german lager, but a beer rating is no place to pass judgement on other people, a basic etiquette that even the retards who gave this beer a low rating are probably able to understand.
