Commercial Description:
2008 marks Humpty Dumpty Brewery’s 10th anniversary. To commemorate this milestone, we have brewed a special limited edition barleywine called simply ""10"". ""10"" is a ruby-coloured ale with a strong hoppy bitterness to counter its 9.2% alcohol by volume. Its 62 IBUs of bitterness are provided by two additions of First Gold, Cascade and Amarillo hops. The Maris Otter pale malt is from the Branthill Farm in Wells-next-the-Sea, Norfolk. It has a wonderful balanced flavour that should cellar well. We think it’s perfectly paired with a piece of mature cheddar, stilton or other strong flavoured cheese. It’s a wonderful nightcap. We are selling ""10"" in 330ml bottles through our brewery shop in Reedham as well as at our current Farmers Markets - Beccles Heliport (first Saturday of each month), and Aylsham Town Centre (third Saturday). It is also available through select retailers including the Real Ale Shop at Branthill Farm and the Little Beer Shop in Blofield. We’ve also made a few casks of it available to local pubs and selected beer festivals. We’re very happy to celebrate 10 years of cracking good beers in the Norfolk Broads, and very proud to bring you this special ale to mark the occasion. Don’t miss it!

Bottle 330ml at home ... Thanks to bitter virtue for the recomendation and putting this aside for me ... copper thin lacing ... sweet fruity with ine and vanilla nose... again sweet juicy warming ... malt up fron with a big hop middle and then a toffee malt linger ... some raisins and plum ... light woodyness ... really quite nice.

Bottle that I picked up from Bellingers Garage, Grove, near Wantage, Oxon, consumed 02-06-09 Pours a muddy puddle brown with off-white head. Aroma is alcohol, old leather and some rich dark fruit pudding. Taste is initially a little harsh from the alcohol, its very rich, there is a bitterness there and a strange slight dustiness about things, quite fruity as well. I’ve got to be honest this isn’t really my thing and I couldn’t finish it, I think that it’s a little rough around the edges, maybe with a bit of age on it, it might mellow out a little. Bottle, Carringtons, Chorlton. Murky dark orange colour with an off white head that became....headless. Fragrant, sweet malt, thick cut marmalade, grassy hop aroma. Niiiice. Flavour was sweet cherry, yeast, booze, then bitter. Dug it.

Bottle from Pig’s Ear Festival, London
Cloudy amber color; creamy head. Medium sweet caramel aroma, with a milky edge, light fruitness and yeast, soapy maybe. Medium sweet caramel flavor, with a touch of unpleasant vegetables, but the rest is good, with a good bitterness too; light nutty touch; it has some rough and yeasty character found usually in Cask Ales; strong ending bitterness. Quite good, but not exciting, even if the glass keeps getting interesting as I drink it…

Bottle 330ml.
[ As Humpty Dumpty Ten ]. Unclear amber orange color with a small, virtually none appearance, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate to light heavy malty, caramel, moderate hoppy, orange, alcohol. Flavor is moderate to light heavy sweet and bitter with a long to average duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is flat. [20081003]

(Bottle 50 cl) Courtesy of fonefan. Pours a very hazy amber golden with tiny, floating impurities and an off-white head. Aroma of fruit and yeast. Quite full-bodied with fruit and caramel with a distinct, bitter finish. 031008
