JonMoore (1561), Loughborough, Leicestershire, England Apr 26, 2006 Bottle conditioned. Very dark brown with a thick beige head. Sweet malty aroma. Taste is, - well it doesn’t say anywhere on my bottle that this is a stout, and it clearly isn’t - fruity, malty, hoppy and a touch sour. Light bodied, foamy mouthfeel. Pretty good easy drinking porter-ish beer. DanielBrown (1919), Birmingham (via Leicester), West Midlands, England Feb 10, 2006 Hand pulled at the Wellington, Birmingham. Smooth, malty style Porter (I thought?). Some biscuit and bread wrapped in the smooth, watery choc. A bit light and untroublesome. duff (5474), Surrey, Greater London, England Oct 11, 2005 Cask@St Albans Beer Festival. Sweetish undeveloped malt character, some green apple characters, with a touch of caramel or something, this is a stout? chriso (4685), London, Greater London, England Oct 5, 2005 Cask (gravity dispense), St Albans Beer Festival 2005. A very odd stout. Reddish brown colour - not very dark for a stout. Not a lot of aroma, but what’s there is dull and vaguely malty. Bits of caramel and fruity malt on the palate, but no great depth of flavour. Thin and seemed very tired to me (it being the last day of the festival). More like a mild than a stout. I have a bottle of this so I’ll re-rate soon to see if the festival conditions were to blame.

leaparsons (4659), Leicester, Leicestershire, England Jan 14, 2005 Bottle Conditioned. Dark red in appearance with a beige head. Aromas are fruity sweet berries and floral, perfumed hops. Flavours are roast malts with fruit, smooth chocolate and a good deal of dry hops. Hints of smokiness, too. Nice and dry on the finish. Has to warm up a bit if chilled to give its true character.
