On cask at the Bow. A black beer with a thick, light tan head. A, little smoky aroma with roasty malt and chocolate. Similar smoky flavour with roasty malt, coffee and caramel. Very nice.

Cask Stillage at NWAF The Venue, Miles Platting 22/01/2010
Chocolaty roast aroma. Dark red coloured a little rich on the palate fruity and hoppy with a hint of dryness and bitterness in a burnt roast finish.

Cask conditioned at The Kings Head, Norwich. Black with tan head. Good dry coffee notes right from the off, darkly roasted malts, quite stoutish in character. Full and chunky, demanding on the palate, very nice indeed in cask.
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 harrisoni (10070) - Ashford, Kent, ENGLAND - FEB 21, 2009
Cask at White Cliffs BF 09. Black with dark brown edges, and lasting bubbly dark beige head. Roasted aroma, some choc. Lots of coffee and choc, really roasted. Excellent condition, strong flavours. But not over the top. Soft espresso coffee at end. Bit powdery in mouth. Nice though.
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 sm89walt (1419) - Norwich, Norfolk, ENGLAND - APR 16, 2010
Cask - The Brewery Tap, Wroxham. Poured almost black with mid brown edges and a lasting fine, creamy light brown head atop. Good smokey aromas, like smoked haddock, with roasted malt tones and nutty notes. Mid chocolate, dark fruits up front followed by smokey, roasty flavours and a lingering bitter coffee, dark chocolate finish. Medium in body with a soft mouthfeel.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 stravale (580) - Scottish Borders, SCOTLAND - FEB 9, 2012
Bottle from Beers of Europe 030212
Black...ruby edges...thick frothy tan head
Aroma - Roast malt....light coffee...sweet dark malts..light savoury..yeast..quite light aroma...bit of smoke
Taste - Dark caramel malts..some roasted malts...light chocolate..hint of liquorice...much more flavour in the finish
Palate - Medium carb and body...rich dark malts...some coffee..smooth..bitterish..bit savoury..oily texture - strangely gets thicker in the mouth...coats the mouth. Finish - dryish..complex flavour left on palate...lingers nicely then clears...perhaps starts to get a bit claggy by the end of the bottle - but much richer flavour in the finish
Overall - A nice porter with that rich intense flavoured finish
3.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 DruncanVeasey (5150) - NUNEATON, Blue Square Prem, Warwickshire, ENGLAND - MAR 23, 2009
BC from Arden Wines. Burnt ebony pour with a thick dirty collar. Buttered cherry aroma with bramble and milk choc splashes. Oily and thick with a fair bit of butter slickness. Lactic, liquorice blackcurrant, espresso and cocoa notes. Afters bonfire smoky and chewy with roast. Alcohol nowhere to be seen. Good lactic and fruity blackcurrant/black cherry sour hints. Just that nagging dab of butter lets it down. Overall a creamy charcoal feel, burnt and lactic with a good hearty balance between the two, and at heart a solid, roasted, hairs-on-your-chest wholesome stouty little beast. Highly enjoyable.
3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 berkshirejohn (3020) - Bracknell, Berkshire, ENGLAND - MAR 30, 2010
Cask, gravity dispensed at the Kingston Arms, Cambridge, 6th Beer Festival. Poured opaque choclate brown in colour with no head; aroma of earthy, chocolate malts; slightly chewy body with deeply roasted matls and a hint of roasted nuts; leading to a dry finish. A classic porter.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Maria (8589) - Thisted, DENMARK - DEC 21, 2008
Courtesy of Fonefan. The label says Reedham porter, but I suppose it is the same as the normal Porter? It is black with a red hue and the head is light brown and creamy. The aroma has a roasted bitterness, notes of roasted malt, milk chocolate, ashes and a light sourness. The flavour has a light sweetness, a slightly roasted bitterness, a light sourness, notes of roasted malt, licorice and a slightly dry finish with light ashes and hints of soot.
