Cask conditioned at The Live & Let Live, Kings Lynn, Norfolk. Dark Brown beer with malt head. A bittersweet lightish stout with a significant alcohol nose. Fruity and woody, I had it down as a strong Mild.

Bottle conditioned. Dark red/brown with an off-white head. Aromas are malty with chocolate and berries. Quite sweet with some earthiness. Flavours are berries and chocolate, quite malty - then dry and hoppy. Quite thin on the palate yet pretty fruity.

rauchbier (3205) - Isle Of Beer, Lincolnshire, ENGLAND - MAR 24, 2003
Bottle conditioned. Deep ruby red-brown. Good beige head and good condition. Aroma starts with roast barley moves onto chocolate then settles on a slight oaky tartness. In the mouth there was a blend of chocolate powder and fruity raisins. Finish was soft with a dry roasted barley edge and mouth filling bubbles that didnt seem to have that CO2 sharpness I would have expected.

Brownred beer. Sweet malty aroma with tones of swill. Sourish and dry with decent bitter finish.

Bottled. Very dark brown with smallish beige head. Roasty and lightly acidic. On the thin side. Roatyfinish with average bitterness. Disappointing ale, roughly in the brown stout category, from an otherwise excellent brewery.
